Some cuckoo shots from Friday ok not the best wish I had used f4 more instead of f2.8 for flighty shots , as subject real close and on inspection dof to shallow for my preference ,either that and kept me distance more .

Thanks for posting Paul. Don't think I've ever seen a photo of a Cuckoo before. Interesting to see one. Nice work.

Paul, many thanks for posting these. All great copies as no doubt not simple at the time.

I have heard them from afar but never seen in this quality. They are on my most wanted list. I should imagine you were really pleased with this opportunity. and you delivered.

Great opportunity, well captured

As easy as it can be to be honest with a bird trained to come to meal worm very easy it is almost like a captive bird ,

great images as usual Paul. crisp and colorful.

why does your EXIF never show up?

I would be delighted to have shot these Paul, its a bird I have yet to see, let alone try to photograph, nice work

Nice shots. I thought I recognised Colin!

Many thanks for the trade secrets Paul :-)

I put out meal worms in our back garden but best we get are starlings, sparrows, dunnock, collared doves and pigeons. We used to have regular visitors of blue tits, long-tailed tits, goldfinches, greenfinches, the odd chaffinch and regular robins and blackbirds but we are now rather depleted. We did have a visiting sparrow hawk which was responsible, I think for chasing away our charm of goldfinches but even that has not been seen this year?

Thankfully I still have the Attenborough Nature Reserve within walking distance but even that is not as active as it was? However they do have a successful Sand Martin hide.

Well done Paul to get a Cuckoo so close up. BTW, none of the camera settings show, is there a reason for that?

Very nice images!

As I see that you're a gearhead with a nice assortment of 20mp bodies and a couple of bags-full of lenses - most all of which can make 2.8 - please let the rest of us gearheads know what you shot the tamed big guy with with!

All bar one I used Panasonic Leica 200mm f2.8 for the majority which park cameras at the wildlife weekend they were selling for £1200 what a steal you could of purchased this and sold it on for a profit.
