I'm amazed by the variety of lenses shown in the 50mm thread, so why don't we go 35mm next - my 2nd favourite focal length.

So please, share your photos taken with 35mm glass, let's see how many different brands/lenses we can put together. :-)

35mm SMC Takumar on Sigma sdQH.

I do not recommend the SA mount cameras for adapting lenses. The register distance is that of an SLR, and the only lenses that can be adapted without mods are M42. Even then, the adapters are so thin that they are very hard to remove. Sigma are promising an L mount camera for some time next year, which should be much better for adapting lenses.

Adapting from SA mount for close work with bellows or macro lenses does work.

RE.Auto-Topcor f/2.8 35mm

A similar design to the Flektogon, and likewise with close focussing to 9 inches. A nice lens to use.

The limiting factor here is the NEX-5N sensor.

Fortunate to find this lens in near new condition. I find it to have saturated colors, excellent close focusing capability & attractive rendering. On a crop sensor such as the X-E1, does a great job for portraits. It is built like a tank and enjoy the aluminum scalloped focus ring.

A beautiful evening, after almost a month with rain.

With apologies for singling this out from a whole thread of nice images but there’s just something lovely about the way it looks - this sharp yet delicate rendering, and I don’t know if it’s the lens, the lighting, the processing or just something inherently aesthetic about the subject.

Anyway, thanks for posting and if I ever talk myself into buying another 35mm I know exactly where to start looking.

Here’s some from mine. It’s claim to fame is it’s a gen III edition and has a completely different coating to all the other multi coated Zuikos. It’s red/orange instead of green/purple! Little things etc...

Other than that it’s like the other f2 wide angles they made.

My only real issue with it is how hard I find composing with it. Lacks the immediacy of a 50 or the expansiveness of a 28/24. I’m aware that puts me in the minority!

Thanks so much for your kind comments. I sold the Summaron a few years back and am still kicking myself today. They have gone way up in price and many on the market are not in great shape. I keep looking and hoping that perseverance will prevail.

Nice images that also show the image quality of your lens.

For me the angle of view of a 35mm fits like a glove. Whether I belong to a majority ........

You're right: this is beautiful image quality. The delicacy is what I think of as typical Leica lens quality -- although of course not all Leica lenses are the same.

Nice thread! And nice images!

For me, 35mm is usually an uncomfortable space between 28 and 50mm.

Without a model, usually I'm totally lost with 35mm....

My least worst 35mm, made with a 1952 Summaron 35mm f/3.5:

I had great intentions of getting out with may bagful of 35's today and comparing them in the landscape, but mother nature had other ideas and we had snow and rain most of the day. Not one to let a day go to waste, I set up a quick still life and did a comparison shoot. To be fair, it's not really an apples to apples comparison. Each lens was shot at closest focus, wide open and at f8. I've posted the f8 images below. The end result is a little misleading. The Canon f2 35mm SSC Concave FD lens doesn't look so good due to having by far the closest focus and thus a much narrow depth of field. The only other adjustments to the image were to set the white point for each image using the same spot and cropping. If I were to redo this, I would use the same tripod location.

So there you have it. I have a Yashica ML 35mm on its way, but won't be here for a couple weeks. I'm eager to test it out.
