I just spent the last three hours testing this application, but can't get anything close to the image quality I get from my preferred HDR applications.

I normally use the following:

Oloneo HDR - for incredible processing speed.

SNS-HDR - for premium natural output.

Photomattix - for superior deghosting.

:

Aurora HDR 2019 is a bust for me.

Has anyone else had better success with it?

Aurora HDR 2019 has a lot of knobs and levers and will take more than a few hours to figure out. I have the previous version and this is pretty much a different app.

Download and go through the 102 page manual before you decide if it's a bust.

Yeah, I haven't quite given up.

Still trying different workflows to see if I can improve the output.

My needs are a little different. I use HDR for parorama VR tour photography, which I use a Nikon mount Sigma 8mm fisheye on my a7rii (so EXIF not supported). I'm not sure if this is causing Aurora "A.I" problems when it's trying to work out correct exposures.

I have noticed that Aurora is overzealous with their deghosting algorithm, keeping it on its lowest setting with lowest -ev, helps avoid a lot of strange "blooming" aberrations, but turning it down means the deghosting is less effective where you need it.

I found the cause of my problem.

There's a bug in the batch processor. It causes a "blooming" aberration.

If I load the same images in single mode with exactly the same settings, I get no "blooming" aberration. I have reported the bug to the developer.

Aside from that bug, the application seems ok.

Hopefully the developers will fix the bug.

Excellent and thank you for reporting the bug. Please keep us posted as I am thinking of trying it as an alternative to Photomatix at times.

No problem.

I'm actually more positive about Aurora HDR 2019, because the output in single mode is excellent. It's raw processing engine is fast, deghosting is accurate, and it has a natural output.

The only spanner in the works is that batch processing bug.

1. Does Aurora do considerably better with raw than jpg?

2. Can you edit raw’s In Aurora even if you don’t want to apply HDR? Would be nice to use a single app.

3. After using Aurora for several months would you recommend it over other products?

Thanks for your input.

After 5 Months Skylum still haven't fixed any of the issues I reported:

So I cannot recommend Aurora HDR 2018/2019 at all.

Use Photomatix HDR instead, at least it works without any bugs.

Ditto for the bugs I reported.

I just spent the last three hours testing this application, but can't get anything close to the image quality I get from my preferred HDR applications.

I normally use the following:

Oloneo HDR - for incredible processing speed.

SNS-HDR - for premium natural output.

Photomattix - for superior deghosting.

Hello thank you for this thread.

I'm still with photomatix especially for its batch processing and was wondering if I should give Aurora a try.... Well you answered my questions here.

Try emailing Skylum "support", refer them to this thread, then ask them when they're going to release a version with the above reported bugs fixed?

Then maybe potential customers like you would be willing to buy their product.

Lol, I wouldn't hold your breath.

The same batch processing bugs are in Aurora HDR 2018 as well as the 2019 version.

Its like Skylum "support" are aware of the bugs, but either don't know how to fix them or can't be bothered fixing them.

Cr#p company, cr#p software.

I think posting a message about this problem onto Trey Ratcliff Instagram would have more impact if I don't mixtake...

Agreed, if I was Trey I wouldn't want my name used as a referral to Skylum's garbage.

The software isn’t garbage. It’s the support that’s problematic.

When I use Aurora HDR 2019 to batch process HDR images, I get garbage.

So that means it's garbage software in my book.

I have tried the Aurora HDR 2019. It is pretty good considering the fact that it accepts RAW image and it can generate a good HDR shot from a single file. I am sharing some of my review sample images, which I have applied to Landscape , Architecture and Wildlife Images, Aurora HDR 2019 review
A pretty lousy review because you haven't tested the batch mode which shows the flaws/bugs mentioned in this thread:

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4327294

You're misleading people so you can get a kickback from Skylum:

"If you are into HDR photography or is interested in creating some excellent HDR images, then Aurora HDR 2019 is a good choice"

"If you have decided to buy it then you can buy it through my link, Buy Aurora HDR 2019. Don’t forget to use my exclusive coupon code “PHOTOGRAPHYAXIS10“to avail a 10$ additional discount"
