Unless you are a sports/action shooter or dedicated to burst, do take another look at the KP. I am very fond of mine and credit it with my recommitment to Pentax.
Frankly, I had one foot out the Pentax door when I was thinking of upgrading from my K-5iis- both the K-3s and even the K-1 all seemed like more of the same, only bigger and heavier. They offered me potential for improved IQ, but absolutely nothing in terms of shooting experience except more size and weight.
The KP is something a little different. Great sensor, fine IQ in a compact solid body that's built like a tank. ( It is small but not light-- I like to say it squats in your hand like a little toad-- but it handles well. You always know where it is and where it is pointing.) And I find that the third control wheel does wonders for its shooting experience.
I'm thinking of myself as a Pentaxian again because of my KP.
