As with all the others great shot/ capture; cute pic.

Also would like to know how took the shot; i.e., holding camera low with rear LCD display tilted up?

Cheers,
Jon
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. For this shot there is a MetroPark I go to with trails near some woods. There is an old tree stump that has been sawed off and the top of it is almost at eye level. Many birds frequent this trail and people often hand feed the Chickadees and Nuthatches. They also will put seed out for the birds. This Woodpecker (as well as some of the other birds) will land on the stump providing a perfect stage for photos. I set-up just off the trail and try to blend in with the surroundings and wait for a bird to land on the stump for a shot. The height level of the stump allows me to shoot handheld looking through the viewfinder. The Woodpecker had grabbed on to the far side of the stump giving me that nice look over the top of the fresh snow that had fallen. Here is one with a Chickadee on top of the stump, no snow.

As well as the usual perched singing this little robin occasionally blew itself up like some sort of avian equivalent of a puffer fish..to sing even louder I guess.

that robin as got a certain look in his eye

i am the boss around here

This gull was a few yards away from me, and I photographed it at full 360mm zoom. I think the exposure is just about the right side of not being overexposed, ie even the brightly lit front of the bird retains a little bit of detail. OOC jpeg.

Exactly Bassy, I guess that is what the display was about....territory.

Cheers Rodger, how are you getting on with the RX10
I have been having a few issues with the RX10, especially focusing on birds in flight, but thanks to help in the Sony forum, I think my problems are over.

An excellent series of shots showing their feeding behaviour at this spot. I'm amazed one didn't go over.

A unique pose and shot. Lovely colours and of course, excellent details.

Well done. The details in the whites are still good. Excellent portrait of the gull.

Thank you Rodger. And, as a matter of maybe interest, I abandoned CIZ and similar when I realised that over 600mm something other than me was deciding the focus point. It is maximum optical zoom and crop for me with the camera.

David

It came out well considering the max opt. zoom and additional crop. Looks like you're happy with your Sony.
