  1. I was so disappointed with A6400 after watching Matt Granger’s first impression on his utube channel. It would not track faces and grabs random subjects. So I watched others tubers take on A6400 af performance. Others says it’s a little jumpy while others says it’s improved. I then looked at the comments section and a couple of person mentioned he was using af-a instead of af-c. So I examined the footage carefully and sure enough it was on af-a.
I won’t watch anymore of his reviews.

That's the beauty of Youtube; someone will soon post a video calling him out on that, using his name in the title to get thousands of views! :-D

I don't trust his reviews. He is a bit biased to say the least. Pro photographer tests af of new camera with AF-A instead of AF-C? Well give me a break.

Yes I found that disappointing. I also noticed that when he was comparing the 6400 to the A9, he was comparing it shooting the A6400 at around f7 or F8 compared to F2.8 on the A9. That meant the A6400 was shooting at 6400 ISO compared to 500 ISO on the A9. Pretty sure that will slow down the AF.

Matt did mention that they used the wrong footage for that segment, and that they used the settings as recommended by Sony. *shrug*

We all make mistakes. Granted that's a biggie - we'll see if he makes a follow up.

That would be entertaining. :) But I rather see him apologies for using the wrong settings. He did similar criticism against d850 when it came out and lots of Nikon users criticized him for not using optimized settings.

He’s got some good stuff sometimes. Don’t ask me what :)

Wrong footage for almost everything including the basketball dunk shot. When he hit the shutter the camera stayed focused on the wall and yet he narrated it’s showing it’s following the eye but no footage showing that.

If you look at A9’s recommended settings (since A6400 is based on A9’s AF) all points to the Use of AF-C. I think there is a setting the R Murphy called spiderweb AF (real-time tracking) that Sony wanted all photographers to use.

According to Steve Huff animal eye AF is not yet available to the A6400 they use for testing but will be available upon shipment. And yet you see Matt trying animal eye AF using his phone’s Cat picture and saying out loud A6400 comes with animal eye-af but does not work and that the A9 does.

Then you have the aperture set to f6-f7 for girl’s portrait behind the branches which leaves the A6400 to struggle more while A9 & D850 used open aperture.

I agree, but this is just mistake after mistake in a rush to publish first and gain the most views. It smell soo fishy....

A common practice in the Youtubeverse is to use misleading titles. Manny Ortiz took it one step further when he used "why I don't use electronic shutter" in the title, while the video was actually about front curtain shutter. People pointed it out, but he didn't change it. 🎣

Haha, all for the clicks even if their reputation is on the line.

Believe me, he shoots Nikon and finding faults with other cameras is his job.

As a pro shooting and youtube reviewers, this is no mistake, it's intentional. I comment on his channel about it but no reply.

using 24-105mm lens and complaint about the crop. using photo mode to start the video. and complaint about the crop when what actually was the camera switching to movie format. comparing with A9 and D850 where he should compare to Fuji XT3, GH5,M50 aps-c line. I even ask him if Nikon sent him to trash sony. he did not reply.

While embarrassing, I too have missed by having my camera on the wrong settings.

But I am not making a youtube video about the features of the camera and he should have double checked those settings

Has anyone see today's Tony Northrop YouTube posting on this new focusing system? He's pretty amazed by it, and it does seem to be a game changer. Check it out:

The mistake after, mistake, after mistake seems to appear intentional. He used to own a A7rii, so why so many mistake?

This is interesting since I’m not a video person. Thanks!

Sometimes it’s good to compare David vs Goliath and see how they stacked up. :)

I believe you Mark! He used to be “That Nikon Guy” utube blogger. I remember him testing d500 and admitted he is not a sports shooter so any fault in his images is his fault not the camera. He won’t say that with Sony.

We all do make mistake, no one is perfect. But..

mistake (use of AF-A for action/moving),

after mistake ( use of aperture between F6-F7 vs wide open for A9 & D850 and expect to track and go head to head with the two),

after mistake ( footage of him doing selfie using a 24mm instead of a 1018 and mentioned that his head is cropped, claim of use of other AF mode but his footage nor images showed none, and now the video cropped image.)

But I am not making a youtube video about the features of the camera and
Youll never know, Sony might invite you too! :)
he should have double checked those settings
I agree!
