My birthday is coming up and though she didn't mention it, I spotted a suspicious charge of CDN $1920.99 on our joint credit card. That is exactly the price (tax included) of the Fuji XF 50-140 and its from Henry's, a local camera store. Now, the question is: How in the world can I play dumb for the next few weeks so she can keep it a "surprise"? Worse, I may need acting lessons for when she actually gives it to me. :-|

Not sure about the "playing dumb" part -

But I'm sure that the way to PROVE to her how thankful you are is to use it to get some GREAT images of her with her loved ones over the holidays.

(Chicks dig it when you get that "kid with a new toy" mood with something that THEY got ya' [as long as you don't become a PITA with it]...) ;-)

This tells me you have a good clue how much to spend on her for Christmas! (or whichever holiday you celebrate). Anyway, I’m sure you’ll find a way to cope.

She’s laundering the money by having them order something unrelated for her. 😁

Simple, order one and start taking photos of her with it! Then you get to surprise her :-}

Just act dumbfounded and mute initially. Keep your camera charged/handy so you can grab it and mount it pronto. As you wield it you can relax and let loose (you will be awed, despite the knowing).

You better get her something very nice and expensive, like a vacation trip. That way she can enjoy the trip while you get to use the new lens. Works in your advantage either way. 👍🏻

P.S., does she have a sister? 😊

After all is said and done and your photo is hanging on the wall, no one is going to know or care what camera, lens, or what post processing you used. All they care about is if the image moves them.
