It's a focal reducer.

It's like a teleextender, but in reverse.

It reduces the crop factor of APS-C to 1.1x instead of the regular 1.6x crop with EF glass. While doing so, it also increases the light received by the sensor by 1 stop. A EF glass f/2 becomes a f/1.4 for example.

I just did some checking and this Viltrox Speedboster for EF-M lenses is NOT compatible with EF-S lenses. So keep that in mind. It's only compatible with Full Frame EF lenses. I checked a few sites that sell that adapter overseas and they explicitly put in their descriptions - "Not Compatible with EF-S lenses..."
