It means it's their second adapter. It says EF - EOS M2 . What does that mean? Will it only work with the M2? And not the other EOS M cameras? Or what?
I think you are right. But that's a very weird way of naming it. It begs for confusion. What's wrong with Mk2 or Ver2 etc.?It means it's their second adapter. It says EF - EOS M2 . What does that mean? Will it only work with the M2? And not the other EOS M cameras? Or what?
They name their EF to EF-M regular adapter as "EF-EOS M".
So, they added a "2" to differentiate the adapters.

Sorry. I didn't mean to sound grumpy. And I forgot to thank you for the news. So.. Thanks !
It sounds interesting.
I can't tell from that photo, but does it have electrical contacts?
Yes, it does.I can't tell from that photo, but does it have electrical contacts?
Moreover, it seems to have plastic mount, rather than metal one, doesn't it?Yes, it does.I can't tell from that photo, but does it have electrical contacts?
Viltrox seems to call their first adapter without glass as Mark 1 and the adapter with glass as Mark 2. We can see this naming even at their other adaptersNo problem.I think you are right. Yeah, it can get confusing, specially with the M series, but that's the way Viltrox has been naming their products.
You would end up with a 35.5 f1.2 and the whole combo would be $200 cheaper than the EF-M 32mm f1.4. Center quality with the focal reducer should be very good, but corner quality will be worse.Kind of gives pause to getting the 32mm. You could get the 50mm 1.8 stm and have essentially the same focal length and aperture but with the option to use other EF lenses and improve those as well. That is only if the quality of the focal reducer is good.
Rather f/1.3 and the maximum equivalent magnification would be worse. You would end up with a 35.5 f1.2 and the whole combo would be $200 cheaper than the EF-M 32mm f1.4. Agreed, got the 50mm 1.8 stm in my bag waiting on something like this to come out. My 50 is my least used lens, someone please try this out!Kind of gives pause to getting the 32mm. It would be the same as the 50mm mounted on a full frame camera. Minimum focus distance does not change, only angle of view.Rather f/1.3 and the maximum equivalent magnification would be worse. You would end up with a 35.5 f1.2 and the whole combo would be $200 cheaper than the EF-M 32mm f1.4. Good point:Kind of gives pause to getting the 32mm. You could get the 50mm 1.8 stm and have essentially the same focal length and aperture but with the option to use other EF lenses and improve those as well. That is only if the quality of the focal reducer is good.
You are correct, but you should apply the APS-C crop factor to get the FF equivalent, tho.Good point:Kind of gives pause to getting the 32mm. Question is with focal reducer, do you apply the same 0.71x to the Aperture of 50mm f/1.8?
- 50mm X 0.71 = 35.5mm
- F/1.8 X 0.71 = F/1.2???
If so, then a 50mm f/1.8 STM on viltrox 0.71x focal reducer would effectively give me
I hope this is true, because I may need to buy a used M3 for this combo, 36mm f/1.2 sounds delicious for Bokeh lover like me
- a whopping 36mm f/1.2 Lens
Yes, therefore near objects use a smaller area of the sensor => worse macro performance due to less pixels per object. But even without the speedbooster one would expect slightly worse macro performance than the Ef-m 32mm.Minimum focus distance does not change, only angle of view.Rather f/1.3 and the maximum equivalent magnification would be worse. You would end up with a 35.5 f1.2 and the whole combo would be $200 cheaper than the EF-M 32mm f1.4. While I don't mind plastic mounts on smaller, lighter lenses, having one on an adapter seems problematic to me.Moreover, it seems to have plastic mount, rather than metal one, doesn't it?Yes, it does.I can't tell from that photo, but does it have electrical contacts?
and does it allow EFS lenses to be adapted as well? Viltrox EF-M2 adapter for M43 is said not to do so.
