There’s 10% off some Godox equipment today, I’m thinking of the AD200 and TT685s. Is this about as good as it gets on Godox discounts or could there be more to he saved on black friday?

Before you go there - visit Adorama and watch for sales on the Flashpoint versions of the same lights.
Thanks for the tip, I assume the flashpoint units are fully interchangeable compatible with Godox equipment? Adorama seem to have some good kits on sale.

Yes it's the same stuff, rebranded (on equivalent models) - but with better warranty/support in the US.

I’ll prolly go for this:

The manuals being better would be an additional bonus 😄.

Kev, I just ordered two TT685S and one XPro-S from B&H. I noted the sale was on select items for today only (XPro-S not included).

It's been a couple month from my last internet order so I was surprised when tax was applied to my order (changed in the past couple months).

Hmmm, I’ve never paid tax from B&H, I just did a dummy order to check it out and it showed zero tax, it may be related to what state you live in, I know some states have cracked down on tax from stores out of state?

Kev, I think you probably know but I am in Michigan. I called B&H before confirming my order and they told me it was across the board (all stores, all states) as of a Supreme Court ruling a couple months ago (may be wrong but that's what I was told and tax was added).

I am now curious about your dummy order not showing tax (I believe you are in Florida, right).

Edit: Just Googled and found this:

The Michigan Treasury Department says that mail-order and online retailers — even those with no physical presence in Michigan — must pay a 6 percent sales tax on all transactions on taxable sales in the state starting Oct. 1.

I would also watch for the Adorama sales. They often bundle lights with C stands and softboxes. Follow Youtubers Francisco Hernandez and Robert Hall, as they often announce when these come up, including any promo codes you can enter.

Kev, I am looking into the possibility of paring my two Sony HVL-F60M flashes with my new order for Godox TT685S and XPro-S.

It looks like the Godox XPro-S with X1R-S will allow me to wirelessly TTL control my two HVL-F60M units. This will be an inexpensive way to add to my setup.

It's a known problem for Godox TTL to work reliably with Sony cameras. I have V860IIS, AD200, AD600 TTL, XPro-S, and XT1-S. I can not make TTL work reliably with any of my Sony cameras.

Try the following to verify the problem: vary aperture from F2 to F5.6, keep the rest unchanged, and see how exposures vary with aperture.

I am waiting for Sony transmitter and receivers to go on sale. I also have 5 Sony flashes. Their TTL works very reliably.

Hmmmmm I might be wrong but I don't think so - maybe someone who has tried can reply. The Godox transmitters talk to Godox lights for sure - but you're saying they can also control Sony? :-/

The reason it's designated as "Sony" is the transmitter shoe mount for the camera.

I think the XPro-S will communicates with the X1R-S and the Sony HVL-F60M will be mounted in the top shoe of the X1R-S. I expect the HVL-F60M can then operate radio wirelessly TTL (hope I'm right about this).

At this point in my life I have become a lazy photographer. I don't struggle over image IQ or details but enjoy content and simplicity. A6000, A6300, A6500, A99, A900 w/Sony + Zeiss + Sony G Glass

Yes, the X1R-S takes the Godox commands and turns then into Sony commands via the hot shoe.

It will work but my advice would be to sell the Sony speedlights whist they still have some value and buy Godox ones.
