Two reasons to stay with the KS1...

It does seem like a very compact combination with the limiteds. Never got a chance to hold one though so I can't speak to other traits like ergo, handling, and sound.

Pentax K-S1 vs Canon SL1 would be an interesting comparison in weight vs performance..

The sound is the only thing bad about this combo: dental drill buzz of the autofocus and obnoxious mirror slap.

The IBIS and lack of an AA filter pretty much settles it, it's impressive that Pentax can do that much in such a small package.

Pentax uses Sony sensors that are better by design than Canon's and can get better IQ from them than Sony can.

Never tried Canon SL1, can't compare.
Two fewer megapixels, but 150 grams lighter in a very slightly smaller package..
The Pentax has better megapixels, better viewfinder, IBIS and illuminated controls :)
Don't forget and Limiteds - in keeping with the small and excellent theme. Outstanding image quality, all 49mm threads so you only need 2-3 filters for all of them, and they are remarkably small.

Limited lenses are proof that primes don't need to weigh a kilo and cost a 4-digit amount to be excellent!

Not if you have the fantastic DA 20-40 Limited, it has a DC motor. The only Limited that is WR but the KS1 is not WR. The 20-40 has superb IQ and lightweight. This along with the HD DA15mm is usually all I bring.

Weather sealing is one of the reasons I got into Pentax and bought a K30 back in 2012, only slighty bigger and heavier than KS1. Ironically water did get in behind the LCD screen and destroyed it. Pentax replaced it with a brand new K30 even after the warranty expired!!!! Big thumbs up!!! 😉

I am not WR myself and don't shoot in bad weather. I am a sunny ISO100 kinda guy, I used to shoot with Sigma cameras, if you know what I mean :)

Fair enough but the WR also keeps the fine dust out. There is a beach up north from me which has the tiniest sand, usually windy and it gets in everywhere (inside the ears, up your nose, inside your mouth). It is a good spot for the Aurora Borealis.

WR should also survive an accidental dunk in water which nearly happened last week photographing in the middle of a shallow rapid river, I used the 20-40 instead of 15mm just in case.
