G’day all,

im looking for recommendations of how to store filter plates (such as Lee or Cokin Z) which are 4”x6” and preferably store the filter holder and lens adaptor at the same time.

ebay has turned up a Zomei pouch, but what do others use? I’m new to this type of filter and have considered the mind shift filter hive, although larger rectangular filter storage is limited.

my current backpack/camera bag is a MindShift first light, if that helps any. I have acquired 9 different ND and GND, so 10 slots minimum would be preferred, advice from real world use is always appreciated.

scott.

Since I use Nisi, I prefer their semi-rigid boxes. I like that nothing touches the filter surfaces, except for the slots.

I have the case for 8 filters. The peace of mind with a rigid case is nice. You'll have to decide how to carry 10.
Thank you for the recommendation, they are very functional and well designed!

I have too many bags. One thing I've done helps me transfer stuff from bag to bag easily, ensuring I haven't left stuff behind.

Silly suggestion? Maxpedition sells organizers. I'm sure their competitors do too. These can attach outside the pack if so equipped, or be stuffed inside. They aren't pretty. They won't allow you to separate and protect your filters, so they may not be good for you.

Thank you, I totally agree, I have a few maxped bags and often use them in the field, my jumbo versipack is my quick walk around camera bag (not that it’s a camera bag) for just walking and shooting. I did most of Rome on foot with this bag during cold and rain, without attracting any attention, especially at night in “off the beaten path” areas.

I hit the bullet and purchased a Lee filter pouch, in sand colour, I’ll let you know how it goes once I have it. I have a bag fetish (self diagnosed, lol) so no doubt will obtain another bag in the future.

on my sort list we’re the NiSi cases, Lee pouch, Benro and I’m still interested in the mind shift filter hive. The filter hive would have been my initial choice IF it has more slots for rectangle plates and less space dedicated to round filters, but as it stands it’s almost 50/50, which doesn’t meet my needs as of today.

another interesting bag I came across was from terrascape, simply called “filter bag by terrascape”. Unfortunately, they are not widely stock or distributed, and as I live in Australia, paying for a reasonably price bag (in euros) with Australian dollars makes the bag expensive, and then freight makes it prohibitively expensive, so I have chosen to not purchase and try it but I was very intrigued by it, and if I could find it for a comparative price, I would buy it.

thanks all, feel free to keep suggestions coming, I’ll no doubt need another bag in the future.

I work on construction sites. I have a jumbo versipack too. It lets me carry my cameras everywhere. I love that feature.

Thanks for talking about your Rome trip. Good reason to own this bag.

NiSi filters case is interesting. Does it have a tripod strap?

I don't know what you mean by tripod strap. But you can get creative with the belt loop.

Well, I can say the Lee filter case is great, holds almost everything I need. Sadly, the one thing that won’t fit inside is my filter holder, but the main thing I needed to stow is the filters themselves and so far it’s doing a great job and makes it quite convenient.
