i think you are hiding your hear in the sand! there is a huge majority that do not participate in MILC hype...only gear heads! canikon will respond to DSLR needs for long time to come! what can one see in MILC that will entice them to ditch their BSLRs and join the MILC bandwagon...to gain what, small size, OVF, etc, etc? not compelling to me! so dream on ;-)By 2020 dslr will be dead... how long do you think Canon will support the now obviously dying EF System?

Yes, we’ve heard all that supposition before. Now show us the documentation to back it up.Yes, there is a lot of MILC hype.i think you are hiding your hear in the sand! there is a huge majority that do not participate in MILC hype...only gear heads! canikon will respond to DSLR needs for long time to come! what can one see in MILC that will entice them to ditch their BSLRs and join the MILC bandwagon...to gain what, small size, OVF, etc, etc? not compelling to me! so dream on ;-)By 2020 dslr will be dead... how long do you think Canon will support the now obviously dying EF System?
But.... for the first time in 30 years, Canon has released a new mount!
More electrical contacts, more features, a modern refresh, AND it can't work on a Mirrored Body!
This is significant, Canon is a conservative Japanese company, they do not do this lightly. This is the leading indicator that Canon see's MILC as the future, not mirrored camera's.
To make this new RF mount successful, Canon will have to shift resources to RF lens development. EF lens development will slow along with EF camera development.
Look at Canon's historic FF and APSC lens releases;
2013 4 lenses
2014 6 lenses
2015 4 lenses
2016 7 lenses
2017 5 Lenses
2018 9 Lenses (includes RF and rumored Big Whites)
To build out the RF lens portfolio, they will need to release several RF lenses every year, that does not leave much for EF.
The next 5 years will see a big change for Canon, a big focus on their new RF mount.
How long will EF last? many more years, look at the EOS 1V, that was available for 18 years. On the other hand, the Canon 30D was released in 2000, and the last Canon film camera was released in 2004.
Change is coming, and it is for RF and the expense of EF. If you don't like it, that is quickly becoming a problem, where ya gonna go? Nikon is going to have to focus on it's MILC platform at the expense of mirrored, and of course Sony started the whole situation.
Hang on, it's going to be a ride!

i appreciate your response...and yeah, it is gonna be a ride, for sure ;-) i am not against MILC at all, i am glad we all have one more choice to think about! what irritates me is a few individuals that hammer their doom and gloom stories about DSLR cameras that have served me and a whole a lot of other people over the years. some of them are brave enough to say DSLRs died yesterday, can you imagine that ;-) well, i am not gonna dispute that in a long run! i think DSLRs are going to be around for a while, though. can you imagine how many EF lenses are out there, Millions of them, probably. this major change is going to take place but not in a week or a month.Yes, there is a lot of MILC hype.i think you are hiding your hear in the sand! there is a huge majority that do not participate in MILC hype...only gear heads! canikon will respond to DSLR needs for long time to come! what can one see in MILC that will entice them to ditch their BSLRs and join the MILC bandwagon...to gain what, small size, OVF, etc, etc? not compelling to me! so dream on ;-)By 2020 dslr will be dead... how long do you think Canon will support the now obviously dying EF System?

Win-win, I'd say.
People come in different sizes, quite varied. Their hands to, too. Some have smaller, some have larger hands.Do people have gigantic hands or something?
People come with different wishes and needs. Some like larger cameras, some like smaller cameras.
It's good, isn't it, that the market provides a variety of styles of cameras?
