Sigma 105mm 135mm

I'll have to look later for some example shots to post but I have the Sigma 135mm f/1.8 and love it. It's a big, fat, heavy lens but I'm fine with that. Focus was spot-on, right out of the box, on my D750. Speed of AF is entirely acceptable. Color and contrast appear excellent to my eye and distortion is all but non-existant from what I can tell, but that's not something I go searching for either. All in all I think this is an absolutely superb lens.

ooc jpeg, 135 art on my sony a9, using the mc-11 adapter, exif data measured it at 13-14fps, using af-c, so the lens has the hardware for fast focusing.

I wasn't real impressed with some of the harsh bokeh on bright reflections, but it's an amazing piece of glass.

I have the Sigma 135mm.

It is INSANE.

Other than size/weight it is great in every way. I wish it had image stabilization, even a crappy 2stop one would help.

It is fast AF, it is SUPER sharp wide open and to me the OOF/ bokeh areas are super pleasant.

I think it is competing with the fabled 200mm F2 when it comes to overall performance, and justly so.

You won't regret it.

Can't say anything about the 105 but based on readings imagine it has tons of good qualities too. Lenstip rates it as the sharpest 1.4 lens and it performs remarkably on their tests.

Dustin Abbott is doing a deep dive on the Sigma 105mm just now. He usually produces several 20 minute videos for important new lenses like the Sigma 105mm.

He has just published part two:

Thank you for the info :)

My copy had some issues with exposure variability in burst shooting, maybe weak springs on blades. Also, missed autofocus oncein a while and needed a dock to fine tune longer distances. But truly great IQ and gorgeous bokeh. In the end I found for my use this lens too confining and went to a 70-200 FL.

That was the 135

Well I picked up the Sigma 135mm. I have not had much time to shoot any people with it yet but here are a few shots.

Very, very sharp. To my eye, and I may be incorrect, the colors appear just a bit subdued.

Thank you very much, and yes I love this lens :)
