After one year of use, i have a feeling that this camera is very underrated, the IQ is top notch, it has everything i need.

Best camera investment i have made so far. Value for money is 10/10.

I agree. Mine has served me well.

I think the camera carries with it a bit of a ding in reputation because it was the follow-on to the D600 and it's well known problem (one which I think, frankly, was overblown). I wouldn't hesitate to buy a D600 or a D610 today, and I still think this is the best value route for getting into FX.

But of course the D750 is available now, and for not a whole lot more. So I might be tempted by the newer camera to get the flip screen, which I can see as being useful. But still, no regrets about the D610 for me.

How could it be underrated? It's community score rated at 4.5 which is probably a realistic number. Anyone that writes up a D610 as a 5.0 is missing something. If a D610 is 5.0 out of 5.0, how would you rate a D750, a D800e, a D810, a D4 or any of the newer ones?

It's a low budget body. Rate it as such. Give room in your ratings for something better, same as they do in sports. 5.0! Get real.

“Very underrated “? Who rated it low? It’s a great camera among a family of great Nikon cameras.

It will be interesting to see what Nikon does with its entry FX camera.

I think maybe underrated based on comments posted about somebody's review :) .....and many have never used the camera but are experts. I get that you can imagine using it by looking only at specs.

I think that in the Nikon FX family of cameras, the d610 kind of gets lost in the shuffle. In that sense, it's underrated.

You're right, though, that all of the Nikon FX cameras have been superb. But the perception is out there that this camera is somehow substantially inferior to the d750 (see grapejam's comments, above), and that isn't the case.

Greetings;

I've had my D610 for about 6 months, I sold my D700[kind of wish I hadn't] but the 610 performs very well for me.

I don't know anything about how to realistically rate it on a sliding scale. But for me I rate it a 5.0 your score, because I doubt I'll ever go to newer body in FX. It does everything I desire in the camera.

I just ordered two new Nikon primes, been using older Nikon AF,and AF D zooms, I'm looking forward to using the new primes, a 35 1.8 G and the 85 1.8 G. Sure more expensive lenses are available, but this cleans out my budget, and I think I'll make it to my final sunset with just this gear.

Thanks for your score, for me it too is a 5.0, others may agree or disagree? but I've never handled or owned one of those other top Nikon bodies. I did shoot with a friends D750? okay, but all I really liked was the tilting LCD! I wished my 610 also had the tilting LCD.

Every post you bully, insult and accuse. Some is wrong?

You're right "some is wrong" I don't suffer BS very well. Excuse me for that. An entry level, budget DSLR is not a 5 by it's definition. I get it - he likes his D610. I get it - it might be a great camera. Shout it out the window.

It is strange when criteria are not explicit - I know I assume that "value for money" or "meets its specifications" is what people are generally talking about. On that basis, it's quite reasonable to rate the D610 as a 5. Unless 5 represents unattainable perfection, which no camera has ever achieved.

Leaving money out of the equation, or insisting on pixel count/resolving power that is less often justified, is always going to be contentious, because one can always spend more money (e.g. with medium format etc), or get a particular feature (like video) that is better with a different camera. But that doesn't make it better value for money (which is always going to be individual but at least can be rationally discussed).

You simply have no idea how good D610 is in terms of image quality. It's still among the top 10 sensors as per DXOMarks database.
