Hi! I have owned an Xt2 for a little over a year coming from a full frame Canon system. I have been super happy except one thing. Maybe I am going nuts but when I zoom in on an image it falls apart quality wise. Especially wider shots. I always view 1 to 1 in lightroom on a 27" I Mac and sometimes I zoom in a tad more to fix blemishes etc. The edges (not the edges of the picture, but the edges of the people or objects in them) just are more jagged, blotchy, very pixelated etc... More than I remember on my 5DIII. Is that just part of the APSC game? Once again, I am happy user but this has been bothering me. It would be kind of someone to post a picture or two for me to compare would be greatly appreciated. Of course the issue arrises more with the 18-55 kit lens then my others, but the issue is there with all my lens's, so I can rule out optics problems. Thanks in advance for any insights. I would like to put this to bed if I can. Like I said, I am super happy, but this has been on my mind the whole time from the very first shoot I did with it.

PS.... For what it is worth, I have tried all the raw converters to rule out lightroom messing with me:) I do use photoshop to sharpen, as I do notice lightroom sharpening does amplify the problem slightly.

I used to have a similar attitude to yours.

I remember spending a long time going back and forth with someone on a thread just like this. He posted some hopeless test shots, but when they were criticised said he had loads more shots that he wasn't going to post that showed the same thing, so it didn't matter. Despite saying he was a newbie and needed help, he then refused to listen to the advice he was given by more experienced users of the system, and identified with everyone who said it was a problem with his equipment and couldn't be sorted.

I criticised other people for being rude to him at first, but by the end, after patiently explaining with links and examples just why he was wrong, I was tearing my hair out with frustration. I don't to this day know if that person was a troll or just unreasonable and stubborn. You never do. However, I learnt my lesson.

Greg has a hot temper, and I don't defend everything he says, but I do feel his pain.
No one is forcing anyone to reply to a thread. If Greg or anyone think a thread is a waste of time, he can ignore it.

Or he can be rude and make the entire forum into a place where people are afraid of seeking help or criticsm, and the only things posted are sycophantic fanboy ramblings.

And paradoxically to Greg’s thinking, thats the worst possible thing if you want Fuji to improve in the future.

After all, if all the feedback is fantastic, why change? If your perfect, why improve?

Surpressing and belittling critsicm and those seeking help is the antithesis of what lies at the heart of good photography.
By the time Greg got angry, the OP had been asked several times to not just tell what he felt was wrong, but to illustrate it. He never did.
I'm not saying that his intent was to troll, but he certainly did not try to participate in an open discussion. So, should we let that pass, or can we say that we -having seen no indication otherwise- think his criticism fails?
I did reply multiple times to people. I also responded and had to defend my self to Greg. I also posted a sample of what I was seeing. mind you not the best sample but nonetheless a sample.

Thank you NottsPhoto for coming to my rescue. I have no clue how I went from asking a question to a troll within, like 24 hours. I somehow won the coveted "best topic" of the year prize while sleeping also. Quite an accomplishment and wasn't even trying. I wish my clients responded to my quotes with such enthusiasm. :-) I could retire in a timely fashion and get my dream set up. Leica!

All joking aside, I do have thick skin and forgive all who called me a troll. I am not that important.

I have taken the liberty to post another sample for my almost final encore. Please take a look at the picture series and tell me what you see? Do you see crappy photography? Do you see crappy processing? or do you see (dare I say) any camera limitations? Honestly, I do not know and thats why i was asking? But here ya go. *Children's faces blocked out for privacy. Also please forgive the samples. It truly is not my finest work:) However this was convenient to get as I can not post my corporate work. (I have confidentlality agreements for 99% and can't take a chance).

Of e last 10to15 replies, nothing much was about fuji gears or photography technique...

Where is e moderator?

As I mentioned, I come here to learn something or be entertained.. (mostly by great pictures others shared)

None of the above is happening anymore...why it is allowed to go on? I don't know.

I am out of here. And I mean it. ;)

Take great pictures

Have a good fight

Which ever u choose enjoy e remaining weekend!

This thread is a bit bizarre but still rather mundane for DPR. I've been here since 2004 with the vast majority of that time in the various Canon forums and frankly, this Fuji forum is mild and civilized by comparison.

This is all much ado about nothing really. The above raw looks like a current day 24 MP APS C file shot at ISO 3200. This ain't FF folks and if you think there's no difference you've been fooled. This could've been shot with an APS C Canon, Nikon, Sony, whatever and it would look the same.

As my wife would say this thread is what you get with too much testosterone in the room.

Hey Jay. Keep at it. Keep on shooting. Keep learning. If another system gives you better results, then switch. I have switched 5 times in 40 years.

Trust me... If I find something better than Fuji, I will immediately switch.

Bob, would you switch to Leica if you had the money?

Leica is camera jewelry. But I love it. When I see a guy on the street with a Leica, I compliment them.

Happened two days ago in Mexico. I always do that.

I could do it. But I don't.

Nope and it's because of the law of diminishing returns. For all intents and purposes, with Fuji one can realize 95% of a Leica at 20% of the price.

And yes, I pulled those numbers out of my a... but people will just have to deal with it. :-D

this forum is the worst example of any forum I’ve contributed to for bullying and fanboys. I’ve got 35 years in this business, I’ve been extensively published around the world and continue to work full time for major brands as a photographer and creative director, and I sure wouldn’t post material for critique here, because I know that basically I will be treated as some sort of idiot.

And If someone like me won’t, what hope do the newbies have?

there are major barriers to Fuji going from a problem child to a star... but they sure ain’t gonna hear what those problems are, or any solutions, in this place, because this place is utterly hostile to any discussions around those problems.
I'm afraid this begs the question of why you hang around here at all with that sort of 'tude. It's a free forum, but if you see it that negatively, why bother?

I’m afraid this thread has run its course and has devolved into personal attacks and other unproductive commentary.

It’s now locked.
