I've dropped almost all of my cameras, with only exterior blemishes as a result. Use the camera normally to assess whether it was damaged or not. After that, look closely at the results and performance of the lens in photos. It's possible your camera is OK, but you'd have to confirm it.

Yes, he obviously (to me...) meant that it was dented/marked/damaged.
From that only it is impossible to know if it will still work or not.
Rollei had one camera that notoriously had dented corners because they were rather easy to squash.

Maybe he is trying to say it is dented ( the damage remains ) .
