I ordered the Leica CL a few weeks ago and got it on Friday with the 18-56mm. I've been hunting for a light weight walk-around camera for a while and I think I found it. I wanted it to be a Leica because I had a Leica Q and was most impressed with the photo rendering of the Q. Unfortunately, I couldn't deal with the fixed 28mm lens so I returned it. The CL is lighter (with the lens) then my Olympus EM 5 and has a APS-C lens. It will be my go-to camera for most picture taking..... I still have my big Nikon for the serious stuff.

Any any comments on the CL?

Use it for the serious stuff :-)

I've got my 'CL' for a couple of weeks now and use it for travel, street, event and for occaisional landscape photography (23mm Summicron f/2). The ease of use and image quality is impressive. Despite the eye watering price tag I am very happy with it. I hope You enjoy this camera as much as I do.

How come you didn't opt for the TL2 instead? Curious question.
Fair question - the image quality is similar. I don’t know about the OP, but for me a big plus is that the CL has a built in viewfinder, and a very good one. Although the TL2 user interface was easy enough, on the whole I prefer the CL.

This is a wonderful little camera with a superb IQ.

You mentioned your Nikon gears. I also have Old and MF Nikon lenses from the good old time. I could use my Nikkor lenses via Novoflex adapter on T without any problem. If you wish to use your Nikkor lenses on CL, check my threads and posts in this forum, where I am discussing this issue.

Good luck,

Louis, are there other adapters for Nikon - other than the Novoflex? Maybe just the adapter is the problem. With M lenses and a Leica adapter the right wheel works flawlessly.

Any images anyone? Any detailed comments about the user interface? I'm interested but want to get more inputs!

When I re-read my post I expected that response. I use the Nikon for "serious stuff" because I have many Nikkor lenses but on the 18-55mm for the CL

The CL caught my eye enough to get me to the Leica store to handle it. I liked the look and feel, its light weight body & lens combination and the simple but more than adequate controls.

Thanks Louis. I do belong and love my SL Camera and am interested in the CL for something a little more 'portable' yet with Leica quality images. Steve Huff's review was great and his images were great as well so I'm tempted to buy. The images on the Leica Forum really are just OK but that's most likely because they are small JPEGs. Hmmmm...

I'd expected either a somewhat lazy Q popularity cash-in to fill a classic-shaped niche in the Leica ILC lineup, or a distillation of the Q's elements that made it such a success into an ILC APS-C form factor.

Now that the dust has settled, I'd say it's definitely the former. I'd argue the TL2 is a much better camera for what it purports to be.

I'm *really* not a Fuji fan, as some might know - and even then I'll take an X-E3 over the CL (it even manages to be a better Leica 109/X/Q lookalike than the CL is).
