First off it wouldn't take much to top the chair I've been using, as it was a cheap pleather OfficeMax $79 ?) chair to begin with, and now it is pretty much broken down and peeling little flakes of plastic all over the place... But what the hey it's like 5 years old and it still standing 😀 lol

So I was in Fry's yesterday and I saw this cool looking gaming chair... Bright green and black my favorite colors 😀 it was $179

Of course I never buy anything without researching it to the 10th degree, and that's a good thing as it turns out that that chair, an Arrozi Monza, is a total POS. If it isn't broken right out of the box it likely would within a month or two !

So I started researching gaming chairs in general, and over and over I found that the vast majority of them, even the more expensive ones are just crap 😞

Either way I need a new chair.... I guess it wouldn't have to be stylish looking, with eye-popping colors. LOL I just got a little bit excited when I saw all these cool looking gaming chairs.

Anybody know of a nice looking, comfortable well-built chair for a reasonable price ?

It's not a 'gaming chair', but if you don't mind spending the $$$, a Herman Miller Aeron chair has given me all-day comfort for gaming and other computer use for at least 15 years now.

That does actually look like a very comfortable chair....

During the dot-com boom I had many friends in those startups; most of the ones I saw had Aerons for their employees; they often worked very long hours and wanted all the comfort they could get.

I got one for myself, and it proved to be one of my smartest purchases.

Since you live in a place big enough to have a Fry's, you should be able to find a retailer where you can try one yourself.

But I'd say it's not a chair you sit down in and sigh with pleasure at the instant comfort; it's one where after a long day you don't notice the chair you've sat in, because you're not hurting. :-)

Used them for a few years at work before I retired. Comfortable enough but those back lumbar supports were an issue since the chairs were used my many and got moved a lot, then they started breaking and had to be removed. To me they were more comfortable without the supports so no problem but something to keep in mind.

Also, in a chilly office environment the mesh seats didn't hold any body heat and some folks had to bundle up to keep their lips from turning blue. ;-)

If I lived in such a cold place, I think I'd rather change states, than chairs :) lol Then again, Winter in Cali is too cold for me, yet I'm still here ?

They need to build these chairs with some neon green highlights or something. These look too much like grownup chairs :)

Yeah, if I lived in a cold place again I'd consider moving too, but SC isn't that cold. By "chilly office environment" I meant temps were kept low for the computers, hell with the humans!

Hey, with Christmas shopping in full swing you should be able to get all the lights you need for that new chair! ;-)

I have no idea what makes a chair a gaming chair but head down to your local office store or Costco and sit in some chairs. Gamestop sells chairs on their website, maybe they have some in their stores you can try out.

I'm in the market for a new chair and last time i was at Costco they had some pretty comfortable chairs but I'm pretty sure my wife has her heart set on buying me a new chair for Christmas so I'm gonna love whatever she gets me.

That's not good. The Aerons have a bunch of adjustments (including the lumbar), and have to be set for the individual. Sharing 'em would be a huge hassle of constant changes, and I can easily see them breaking under those conditions. Generic chairs would be better for that.

Well, they're doing it all wrong. The butt goes on the chair, not the lips. :-D

I appreciate the mesh; in summertime we have the house A/C set to 81F so we don't lose our heat adaptation for outside.

I would look for a real office furniture distributor rather than the usual retail stores. You'll have to pay quite a bit more ($300-500) but you'll get a really solid and comfortable chair that will last 10, 20 or more years. It's worth it.

You will find some (not many) such chairs in bright colors.

There are occasionally opportunities to buy used office equipment from businesses that have folded/downsized.

Years ago, I bought two fantastic desks, chairs and more from a failed business. Top of the line stuff for pennies on the dollar. Sadly, I left them behind in the UK when I moved to the USA. It takes some luck but it's worth checking Craigslist and similar listings in your area.

Personally, I'd be willing to compromise on color to get real quality and comfort.

We had our first freeze of the season last night. And it snowed too! First time in, I think, six years. Less than an inch.

I like rb0321's idea; a few strings of blinking lights will fix that. Or spray paint and a black light! :-)

Well sure. Me too. I just saw all those fancy colorful gamers chairs for the first time, and got myself all excited. Shame somebody can't make quality stuff with that kind of styling :(

This is very similar to the gaming chair I have (sans wheel and pedals). Cost around $600.

Ya know, I was daydreaming yesterday about a solid back and seat bucket (one piece) with just some high quality foam in the right places.... Wrapped in something breathable, durable, and for my tastes, "eye-popping" 😀

I just don't see what the big problem with making something like this is ??? For manufacturers I mean...

Like most of us, I've owned a whole spectrum of crummy chairs that start falling apart after a year. My present chair, however, has been a marvel. I'm a big guy and I spend a fair number of hours every day in it. After four years it still looks and sits like brand new:

Not all the gaming chairs are uncomfortable. You just need to choose the right fit for yourself. Before buying any chair, make sure that you look for all the considered things you want to have in your chair. Always try to look for genuine stores like Office Furniture Solutions to choose one from hundred. This can help you in saving much of your time and money too.

Hi Chris,

Chairs are like grass. It's always better on the other side of the street.

Great to see you posting!
