If that overcame your D850 crisis, it couldn't have been much of a crisis. What would have been the reason for a D850, if it's solved with a DX - that could have been done at any time without getting you into a hype.?

What's the connection?

It's not really a lost sale if there are less cameras than there are people who want to buy them.

All you've shown us is that you either

1. Didn't need a D850 in the first place. OR

2. Have too much money.

You say you now have a small camera for walking and hiking. Well, if that's what you needed in your inventory how was the D850 going to solve that anyway?
 
It certainly would never have occurred to the rest of us to even consider such a radical approach. Thanks for showing us the way.

As you have so often said in your thousands of posts:

You never were a potential sale for Nikon. Don't act like a smug as nobody is begging you to buy D850.
