Hi,

I bought this adapter - 3.5 jack to micro USB:

I tryed out with my Rode 3.5 microphone, and there is no sound being recorded to the NX500 trough there :(

i was wondering. Is the ability to record audio via the USB micro port viable through some sort of hack? The automatic gain control of the NX500 is great, so in a sense the only thing we needed is to allow the external audio to be recorded to the camera by software, via the USB micro port.

Here, the gopro allows it:

I mean the hardware is there... so maybe te NX500 could be the best camera at its pice range with an audio quality that match is video performance...

Thanks,

flip :)

I seem to remember ottok trying at one point and he said it's not possible but I can't remember if it was hardware, or low level firmware that was keeping it from being possible.

thishack might work better
Thanks for replying :)

Have you tried it yourself? Does it avoid picking up noise lenses?

I'm quite impressed by this video:

but is only for outdoor, right? Is like cat fur... it is for wind

I mean, what really makes me angry is that the NX300 allow for the use of an external mic, despite not having a mic input. It is really bad, because the AGC of the NX300 ruins the audio, but is there. The NX500 don't. Why? If the AGC performs much better, why does the EM10 is not compatible with the NX500? Crap!!! :(

Vasile and I tried everything to switch USB port to host or OTG mode, with Vasile really trying and trying - but nothing.

Yes, It is really the best hybrid camera after all these years. :)

Thanks for replying, and for trying Otto :)

AS we know the Sony A6000 and the NX300 at least gives the users a way of at least using and external mic, via their hot shoe.

What really annoys me is that, a worst camera like the NX300, than the NX500 allows for the use of the Samsung EM10 mic. The AGC of the NX500 is much, much better. It doesn't produce those terrible ups, and downs in the audio, like the NX300, and you can choose the audio level. The AGC of the NX300 is a crap...

I know that the NX500, nor the NX3000, don't support the EM10. Do you know why?

I have the mic myself. I never tryed it on the NX500/3000, but I think it fits the hot shoe, right?

Do you know why the EM10 is not compatible with the NX500, and if there is something we could do to fix this? I can send it to you by mail, if you are willing to try to make it work with the camera. Right now my EM10 is in the box. It was a pain to use it with the NX300.

thanks :)

PS: I know the mic itself is great, and has headphones input, which is also great :)

Does it really works on the NX1? Maybe you can analyse why?
