Since the Tamron 24-70 G2 is a relatively new lens and not a lot much real life usage photos yet,

Here are a few I took few days back (Both the D500 and the Lens are not more than a month old.)

Few of My Observations:

1: The combination works quite well in Extreme Low light, not once had an issue with Focus Hunting.

2: The Color Contrast,Saturation/Vibrancy on this lens is amazing.

3: Under high ISO images, Lightroom Sharpening kinda adds more dark artifacts than details. This is to be investigated as I am new with these HIGH ISO Imagery.

4: The Lens AF is perfect by itself. I did test in Reikan Focal and the Af-Tune Levels on my Body were between -1 and +2 at the extreme focal lengths .

Will add more later if there is any interest..

Looks like you have a good copy. I have the G1 and it is a little soft at 70mm @2.8. I had read that the G2 is also similarly soft. But your photo of your dog seems to be quite sharp. Enjoy the lens!

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. How do you find the handling with the D500?

I currently have a 17-55 f/2.8 along with a 70-200 f/2.8 VRII, and am looking to pick up an UWA Tokina 11-20 zoom and the thought had crossed my mind about selling the 17-55 and picking up a 24-70. With the 11-20 and 24-70, I wouldn't lose much in that mid-range focal distance, but would be set to possibly pick up a D750 down the road with the two FF lenses.

No issues with front/back focusing I presume?

I usually have the 24-70 on my FF D750. No major issues with the D500. Quick AF but i do hear a small squeak when it AFs which I don't hear when the lens is on the D750. No front/back focus. But I don't use the 24-70/D500 combo much, I am not bothered by it.

However, the sharpness at 70 mm/2.8 is not as great as the Sigma 50-150/2.8 OS at comparable focal length.

On the D750, I need a -8 AFFT value.

I can only compare it to my older camera a D7100.

It's much better in every which way, be it the view finder, the ergonomics , the buttons placement, the custom functions, the thumb stick.

As for the Lenses, It's a heavy combo with 24-70 G2, almost 2 Kilos give or take.

I use a sling strap so weight is so not much of a bother as with a neck strap, the weight just might as well help fixing my frozen shoulder.

I Got the 24-70 without any plans for FF as it gives me the most important ranges at 2.8 : 35mm (36, 50 and 85) For wider I also picked up the newer Tamron 10-24 HLD, so they cover most of the normal ranges for street walk-around. I have the longer teles and primes for specific needs.

My 10-24 needed a -6 of af tune, at about 4 meters.

Thx for the thread atalwar! Any chance you can compare G2 to G1? Also do you notice any aperture issues like G1?

Here is an example of some onion rings that this lens may product in certain conditions.

Taken in night manually defocusing the lens.

Onion Rings can be had at time.

DOF is not as shallow due this being a crop sensor.

Basic Processing and a glow filter from color fx pro.

Nive pictures, but do you not find the DoF shallow enough? In these shots, the subject is clearly separated from the background.

I intended to meant, DOF as compared to an FF at the same settings, this is what would be around F4 on an FF.

This is totally acceptable to me on a crop, and bought this lens knowing that.

Ah, ok. Yes, DoF is greater with the lens on a DX sensor compared to an FX sensor, but I would agree that the DoF even on DX is acceptable in terms of isolating the subject.
