I've been working for a production company full-time for the last few months and we use the blackmagic Ursa mini pro.

Yesterday I needed to take 3 cameras on a shoot but could only take 2 because everyone was on different shoots at the same time. So i grabbed my nx1 in addition to 2 Ursa minis and away we go.

I set up the nx1 as a single shot closeup on an interview with a famous basketball player.

I set it to normal dynamic range (the show aired hours after the interview so I needed as little post work flow as possible, I normally shoot in gamma dr) , sharpness - 10, and Kelvin white balance to match the Ursa mini and used one of our zeiss 85mm cinema primes through a EF - nx adapter.

After getting back to the office I pulled all the footage in and compared and the footage matched really, really well

We also have a 5dmkiii that we use sometimes if the blackmagic is too big/cumbersome for a situation and it's video always stands out as subpar when cut together with the Ursa footage. But I am happy to report that the nx1 looks phenomenal and matches perfectly. If you weren't looking for it you wouldn't be able to tell that it was a different camera.

To me, the thing that's the saddest about Samsung exiting the camera business so soon is that few people will appreciate exactly how feature packed and far ahead of its time this camera was.

I have my own talk show that I film for YT. And I'm no videographer, but the fact that I can sit and control my camera remotely from my phone so seamlessly, and stop/start recording whenever I need to without getting up is such a huge deal. It seems like a minor feature until you realize that 2017 Nikons don't have this feature.

Then there's the quality of the video without even grading it. It's phenomenal. But it's also very sad because I have slow internet right now and have to crush the bitrate to be able to upload to youtube.

Just one of the best all around hybrid cameras ever made.

when I had mine, i made the mistake of shooting it along side of my pos 70D, footage was always just spectacular out of the nx1, i sorely miss it.

Aren't you uploading the H.265 files directly (straight from your camera) to YT?

Sadly it's not possible to do this.

new servers support H.265 - stream, upload and even edit on YT

I can't find any information that suggests YT supports h265. Is there a link you can share?

Go to h265files.com and upload one of the files to YouTube. I've just tried it and it works. Will try with an nx1 HEVC file when I'm at home this evening and report back.

Great solution. Keep working hard

Wow, I can confirm this works. The files on the link you shared are mkv files, but I just uploaded an h265 mp4 straight off the camera to YT and it worked fine.

This is a game changer for me. I cannot believe it's not been mentioned publicly very much.

It is great. I just wish that Filmora could output in h265. It can only output in h264 and at a maximum of 80mbps.

best kept YT secret for the past couple of months - with H.265 support, YT (via Chromecast) is going to beat/outstream Netflix, and most of the 'no comment' news gathering services

Does youtube still convert to vp9 though?

I thought with YT choosing VP9 it signaled they didn't want to pay to play with h265. Looks like they quietly changed their stance on that.

I'm assuming they are still converting to vp9 and using that to stream?

Just answered my own question, although youtube will accept uploads in h265 it converts them to vp9. No surprise there really.
