First shots with my $220 Fujifilm X100s

Just curious, but isn't $220 for a X100s, a great price for a great camera, albeit, slow and lacking all the modern features given now? I prefer my Ricoh GR, but at the time my choices were the GR and X100 s, both were the top of the line for fix lense cameras at the time.

I'll gladly let you out of your horrible decision without a cent of loss on shipping or PayPal. Way cheaper than a 23 F2. 😂

The lack of wifi (...)
SD card reader are often more reliable / faster than Wifi, Especially on a 3+ years old camera (and Fuji implementation has never been the best). You can also use an USB chord which sadly isn't the same than your Apple smartphone...
my phone has a much faster processor than my computer.
Your computer must be old / under-powered. I also like playing with Snapseed on the my phone but the small screen, lack of keyboard / mouse (shortcuts make all the operations... well... shorter). But I agree, it can be fun for processing few shots on the go and share them.
The lack of touchscreen (...)
This camera is aimed at people using OVF / EVF, plus it is quite old. I find touchscreens convenient (+ tilt / articulation) but in this particular camera... not that much.

For 200$, you get a good price for an old camera and my guess is you are not the public for it. Keep it for few weeks and sell it if you don't enjoy.

... Why did you buy it? You have a camera that is intentionally simple, and complain about its lack of features that would make it not simple.
In fact I disagree. Lack of ergonomic features makes it more complicated to use, not less.

For example:

The lack of wifi makes it a very complicated process to get the photos onto my phone for editing/uploading/sending to people (if you're snobbish and think all photo editing must be done on computers nowadays (how unpleasant) you would probably be unaware of the massive progress that has been made in mobile imaging editing apps (snapseed, lightroom) in the past few years. And you might be surprised to find that my phone has a much faster processor than my computer.

The lack of touchscreen makes it a very complicated process to select a new AF point. Rather than simply touching the screen to show where I want to focus, I have to press numerous buttons quite a few times.

I'm not complaining about the camera. Simply stating facts. I'm quite happy with my purchase. Just haven't decided whether to keep it or sell it. The IQ is the strong point of this camera. Also the dials. The hybrid EVF/OVF is a bit of a gimmick though. I don't like to spend too much time sticking my eye into a tiny hole.
Maybe you should have opted for a Fuji X70? It seems to have the features you are looking for

Fun, isn't it ...? These X100 series cameras have an allure all their own. I have a T, and while it is not my most generally useful or most frequently used camera, it's one of the most satisfying. And there's no substitute for it when I am in a certain kind of a mood.

Don't forget to try some macro shooting with it-- it's surprisingly good, particularly in the garden.

And I hope you are starting to feel comfortable with the lack of IBIS. It's really a very easy camera to hand hold even at very slow shutter speeds, with its light weight and almost neutral balance.

X100S for $220? That seems like a steal. Where does one find these deals?

absolute power corrupts...absolutely
I would like to know that as well. Looking at them on the bay and ama, they go for +500$ so OP got a killer deal there and can likely even earn some money on it if deciding to sell.

They still sell some new ones (Taiwan) and wants app 850$ for them and Japan shops wants even more for used ones, crazy man.

I don't see how anyone here can help you decide. You know what's most important you. Sorry if I missed it above, but why did you buy this camera in the first place?

Re: lack of Wifi...

When I use my X-E1 (also no Wifi) I use an SD card reader plugged into my iPhone to transfer files Not complicated at all and much faster than the Fujifilm app.
I found that there are some cheaper 3rd party "SD card to lightning" readers on ebay. (the Apple one is quite expensive - $45). Do you know if the 3rd party ones would work just as well?

Thanks
To transfer the pictures from my non WiFi featured X-E1 I use either a cheap USB/micro USB SD card reader (which allows me to transfer the files directly into a PC/android smartphone) or a Toshiba flashair (wifi) SD card: the latter one works also flawlessly (albeit a bit slower) and doesn't require to pull out the SD card from the camera.

So, the lack of WiFi isn't really a big deal for me.

Cheers.
Thanks. I just found out that since the latest iOS update, not only do 3rd party SD card readers not work on the iPhone 6/7, but even Apple's own reader which costs $45 doesn't work.

https://www.apple.com/au/shop/reviews/MJYT2AM/A/lightning-to-sd-card-camera-reader

So im back to square one. Currently I'm importing the files to my old iPad with an ad card reader. Then using image transfer with Bluetooth to transfer them to my iPhone.
I haven't updated my iPhone, but it works just fine on my iPad with the latest OS. Another option is a WIFi SD Card like the MiFi. As to whether you should keep it, it seems to be missing the features you want and one of its flagship features, the hybrid viewfinder, you have no interest in.

I can't decide whether to hang onto this camera or sell it. It is very awkward to use due to the unreliable AF, lack of touch screen, difficulty changing AF point, lack of WIFI, fixed focal length, lack of tilting screen, hopeless video quality, lack of IBIS, etc.

On the other hand the IQ is very good, and the small size and manual dials are very nice.
You actually forked over $220 before realizing that the camera lacked features you described above? Either that wasn't a smart move or it was pretty ignorant of you to do that.

At $220 he could try it to see how he liked it and sell it for a profit if he didn't. He made a smart purchase.

At that price I would never sell it. Thats a gift that will keep on giving!

Couldn't agree more. Buying low with the idea of selling it on if you don't like it is perfectly sensible, even if you are pretty sure you won't like it.

I don't think I could have resisted that bargain myself, even though I have no interest in adding another X100 to my stable.

I think I'm going to keep this camera. It's just so addictive. There's something about the size and shape and immediacy of the controls that makes me want to keep using it.

Thinking about getting an eye fi card, hopefully it will work well.

There are a couple of WiFi enabled cards and Ive seen some comparisons online. Do a little research because EyeFi may not be the best, but one of them should do what you want.

PS. The camera will feel more responsive if you use a faster card like the SanDisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s.
