I can't decide whether to hang onto this camera or sell it. It is very awkward to use due to the unreliable AF, lack of touch screen, difficulty changing AF point, lack of WIFI, fixed focal length, lack of tilting screen, hopeless video quality, lack of IBIS, etc.

On the other hand the IQ is very good, and the small size and manual dials are very nice.

Surely you knew most of this when you bought the camera? Many of your major complaints (fixed lens, lack of a touch screen, lack of a tilt screen) are obvious at a glance or at most after a quick examination. Of course, you may just be sampling it and planning to sell it on.

Still, you may want to give it a chance. Meet it on its own terms. Try sticking to the central focus point and using focus and recompose. This is a slow camera, not a speed demon.

I would have gotten rid of it effective immediately/never bought it based on these cons.

Use the reciprocal shutter speed rule

Fuji does not do image stabilization except for a few lenses

Sony will be your best bet here like the A6500 or something from Olympus or Panasonic

Touch screen is not the norm for Fuji and heck to my knowledge fairly new for Nikon.

Now complaining about fixed focal length that is all on you... You bought the camera knowing what it is.. If that is important a p&s or a Sony RX-10 xx is better or Canon G3x whatever

... Why did you buy it? You have a camera that is intentionally simple, and complain about its lack of features that would make it not simple.

Given the price you paid, you can surely sell for a nice profit, but I worry that you don't realize the point of this camera.

In fact I disagree. Lack of ergonomic features makes it more complicated to use, not less.

For example:

The lack of wifi makes it a very complicated process to get the photos onto my phone for editing/uploading/sending to people (if you're snobbish and think all photo editing must be done on computers nowadays (how unpleasant) you would probably be unaware of the massive progress that has been made in mobile imaging editing apps (snapseed, lightroom) in the past few years. And you might be surprised to find that my phone has a much faster processor than my computer.

The lack of touchscreen makes it a very complicated process to select a new AF point. Rather than simply touching the screen to show where I want to focus, I have to press numerous buttons quite a few times.

I'm not complaining about the camera. Simply stating facts. I'm quite happy with my purchase. Just haven't decided whether to keep it or sell it. The IQ is the strong point of this camera. Also the dials. The hybrid EVF/OVF is a bit of a gimmick though. I don't like to spend too much time sticking my eye into a tiny hole.

Re: lack of Wifi...

When I use my X-E1 (also no Wifi) I use an SD card reader plugged into my iPhone to transfer files Not complicated at all and much faster than the Fujifilm app.
thanks. I have one for my iPad but doesn't fit my iPhone. I hope there is an SD card reader hat fits my iPhone 7 and isn't too expensive. I do find that wifi works more quickly though.

Like others have stated, you can easily get SD card adapters to plug into your phone, and allow you to edit the RAW files too :)

Do take into consideration that this is a 4 year old camera. Most cameras were still phasing in tilt/swivel screens. The only camera I remember having a touchscreen around that time was Canon, and it wasn't very good in the beginning.

Considering the price you paid, that camera is going to be very hard to beat (IQ wise)

If Wifi and better UI (less button pushing) is a main concern, I'd look into the Ricoh GR II as an alternative.

I found that there are some cheaper 3rd party "SD card to lightning" readers on ebay. (the Apple one is quite expensive - $45). Do you know if the 3rd party ones would work just as well?

Thanks

Again, why did you buy this camera? These are all facts that you could have obtained from watching a YouTube video, instead of finding out first-hand and then letting us all know about it. Even your earlier post asking whether the price was a good deal could have been answered by a glance at eBay. If you're hoping to make an easy $300 profit after playing with it for a few days, there is no need to advertise this, especially with an attitude that is yet ambivalent at best.

The X100S is, simply, a camera - and I use that word again deliberately.

To put all of this in other words, I'm not really sure what your point is.

You're probably right. Did you check out my photos above? The birds were in the shade and were considerably backlit, but I still managed to recover the colours with nearly no noise.

You'll be ignored from now on. No need to become emotional. These are just tools after all.

Looking at what I just wrote..... it is not my intention to be negative. I hope you enjoy and keep this camera, or even upgrade to an X100F. But I think that you need to look at the camera for what it is, such that you can appreciate what it does, and also appreciate what it avoids.

Tools in which you nitpicked about and now become sensitive when someone points out your intentions. Not sure who's the emotional one here but am pretty darn sure it ain't me or j0llysnowman.

Added you to the ignore list. I said nothing mean, merely my impressions of the camera.

To transfer the pictures from my non WiFi featured X-E1 I use either a cheap USB/micro USB SD card reader (which allows me to transfer the files directly into a PC/android smartphone) or a Toshiba flashair (wifi) SD card: the latter one works also flawlessly (albeit a bit slower) and doesn't require to pull out the SD card from the camera.

So, the lack of WiFi isn't really a big deal for me.

Cheers.

Thanks. I just found out that since the latest iOS update, not only do 3rd party SD card readers not work on the iPhone 6/7, but even Apple's own reader which costs $45 doesn't work.

So im back to square one. Currently I'm importing the files to my old iPad with an ad card reader. Then using image transfer with Bluetooth to transfer them to my iPhone.

X100S for $220? That seems like a steal. Where does one find these deals?
