How does one disable moving the focus box on the M5? I keep doing it inadvertently even though I've turned off every menu I can find.

I have Camera 2 -> Touch shutter -> disabled, Camera 2 -> Touch & drag AF settings -> disabled, and I've reset the DOF button to not invoke touch & drag.

What else is there?

Not the perfect answer, but have you considered turning of the part of the screen that you inadvertently touch - see page 96, Active touch area.

Just another thought - on page 96 of the manual top left, it refers to "spanner menu 3" where there is a function "Touch Operation" where you can disable the touch function completely. Hope that helps.

Sorry if this is a stupid thing to ask, but are you meaning that you inadvertently change focus point whilst using the viewfinder, or whilst using the LCD?

I think the other replies are all assuming the former, and the answers you are getting fit that scenario. If you find you are changing focus points whilst using the LCD then that's trickier. What's more, you may find other settings getting altered, not just focus point. As another poster said, you can turn off the entire touch sensitivity function, but that might be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

A feature sadly lacking imo is a Lock button to stop random things getting changed by a few accidental screen prods.

I end up moving the focus box just by handling the camera, so that when I then go to use viewfinder (more likely) or LCD (for composition, not shooting), I find the focus box is off in the corner someplace.

It's usually top right or top left. It's not due to my nose touching screen as I shoot through the viewfinder, as far as I can tell. I sorta think it may be via my thumb as I hold the camera, possibly during turning it on.

For sure, I've moved the focus box inadvertently when I've tilted the LCD screen during shooting. That's a minor nuisance, but at least I know what I've done there.

I'll try the full disable option -- that's the submenu I don't think I've tried yet. I so rarely need the box to be moved that could likely be the solution for me.

Thanks, guys!

On my M5 I can just press the button by the lens (grip side) and it disables the touch focus box..

Yeah, I tried that. In fact, accidentally hitting that button may have been why I couldn't explain why my menu settings seemed to be getting overridden all the time.

I guess with my big paws I kept hitting that grip-side button when I didn't want to. It wasn't a reliable fix for me. Thanks for the idea, though!

I just made the focus area bottom right as my big thumb was moving focus area to top right.

That will disable/enable the touch-and-drag feature whilst using the viewfinder, but it won't turn off the tap-to-focus when using the LCD, at least not on mine.
