A solid printer, but not perfect.

I've held off commenting on the Canon Pixma Pro-10 because it took me a while to get comfortable with all my options. I've owned this printer for just about 3 years and have to admit that except for simple tasks, the learning curve can be quite steep. However, the results are outstanding when compared to other printers in this price range. Someone complained about the clunking and banging that goes on before the printer is ready to work, and while that's true, it's nothing compared to the HP large format printers that I've owned in the past. If you're looking for a more instantaneous printer that runs silently, you'll need to cough up a great deal more money than what this costs. As for ink consumption, the machine uses a scant amount for the maintenance of the print heads. It's not noticeable. In printing 100 4"x6" glossies of mixed colors, shades, vibrancy, and tones, the tanks deplete to about 2/3rds full. As the saying goes, your mileage may vary. In balance, I think this printer deserves high marks because print quality is outstanding; half a point deducted for the learning curve.
