Looks like Panasonic is starting the GX8 selling-off. Tempting offer for sure. I have the GX85 but have been intrigued by the GX8 for a while. That being said, the real value of the 12-60 is probably only about $250 tops, but a GX8 body for $750 seems to be the right price. Anyone know if the shutter shock issue shows up with the Panasonic 12-60 zoom?

I bought this combo last Christmas and haven't experienced any SS since then. However I remember I paid less than 999 with the cashback (around 750)

Where is this combo selling? Is the 12-60 the first version or the latest one?

This Panny 12-60 f3.5-5.6 is an absolutely wonderful lens, that, IMO, punches far above its weight when you consider the prices you can get this lens at. I just love the focal length and I've now managed to get 3 of 'em (off of eBay - new - at greatest prices from folks who separated the new lens from the kit). The clarity of this lens is wonderful for the genre and I don't see why it's been so overlooked. I keep one fixed on my older E-M5, the GH3, and G5.

Here are the current ones available on eBay for great prices - in case anybody is considering getting this lens. Don't pay full retail ($499) when you can pick up a new one for far less than that - again, mostly from separated kits. As I mentioned, I bought 3 of 'em so far - ranging from $289 to $349 - all new and their performance levels are superb (all 3 were sharp).

I got that (non Leica) 12-60mm practically free when buying the G85 kit. This lens is excellent. Its relative "darkness" is compensated nicely by the IS technology. I've shot static subjects indoors at slow shutter speeds, hand held, without problems -- the background is not soft enough to dramatically isolate the subject, but the subjects in focus are always sharp.

I also use a GX8 and really like it -- the EVF is awesome. No "shutter shock" issue to report.

I'd say go for it.

I haven't received any shutter shock issues. If your talking about B&H, you get a free bag and a Sandisk 32GB SD card as well.

I got this kit with a lot of free extras via Amazon (third party through RitzCamera, an authorized Panasonic dealer) last Fall I believe it was. Shutter shock is so blown out of proportion, I've never run into it. I'm finding it to be a fantastic camera.
