I have had to send my X100F to Fuji Service, I bought the camera 3 weeks ago. My copy has several issues... First, the control stick doesn't work properly - it doesn't activate when you push it in, it sometimes takes several pushes to get the focus selection activated and working (and yes, I've reset and selected settings for this). Second, the front command dial doesn't control ISO when activated to do so... it did for the first 2 weeks, now it shows the activated symbol above the ISO in the viewfinder but doesn't change the actual ISO setting. Third, the AUTO ISO function, when set up in the menu system to have 3X ISO + min. shutter speeds, locks all 3 on ISO 6400 when the front command dial is set to select Exp. Comp./ISO.
In this case the issue might be either hardware and/or software... although the service at the dealer as well as Fuji was immediate (they sent me a shipping RMA and pre-paid label immediately and assured a 7-day service turnaround) I am not thrilled as it's a brand new unit. As with other X100 series there are (sometimes) problems with the first batch(es) however for a premium model costing $1700 + taxes I would simply anticipate an immediate replacement. Either way I hope the expected result is a camera that is 100% or replacement with a new copy.
Needles to say, I am a huge Fuji fan and advocate, and have owned several x-series models... the image quality and the functionality of the F are truly amazing... many comment on the quality / finish... the F is solid, more than the T in my mind. However for the premium "X" level and cost my sense is Fuji could have developed the perfect 4th gen X100 if it had the level of quality/finish/feel off the original X100 Limited Edition Black version, in which case I would have paid even more to have a copy.
With respect to going to another make/model... I've been there, several times... but the fact is the X100 series keep getting better, and I find I look at everything else available to arrive back at the same conclusion - all in - form factor, IQ, fun factor, practicality, usability - I end up with the Fuji X100 series.
I compound this with the fact that even with the issues of my F copy I can't wait, or may have to wait, to get it back... but I will wait, knowing that through so many other cameras I've had it IS the only camera that invokes my wanting to pick it up, again, and again, and again...
