I'm considering buying the Tamron 15-30mm for my A99II, because my older Zeiss was stolen last year in Ottawa. Has anyone used this lens?

Appears to be both better lens and better value than the ZEISS. Testing at IR on FF.

Solely tempted to get one myself, but wife has warned me about consequences of my having more lenses than she has shoes.

LOL 😂 I feel your pain...we should start a camera gear ho group for recovering addicts .

Gear addiction group run by gear addicts? Haa! I like that idea. Come home from every group with a new piece of gear? Yes!!!

That's like having Jennifer Aniston in charge of a sex addiction group, with her being the biggest sex addict in the group, and the biggest ho.

Been sorely hoping to find a group like that in my area.

So far, no frinkin luck :-(

only thing stopping me from getting one is the filter situation.. If only Sony built the apps in the A99II like my a7r2, that would solve the need for ND and cpl..

Same problem with the Sigma 8-16 that I use. It's a good super wide on the A99ii in crop mode though.

Why not just get the 12-24 FF version?

I have this lens/camera combo. I am still getting used to the lens. My comparison would be a 14-24 nikon and D700. The Tamron is bigger, and I like the zoom range of the Nikon better. However, practically, the lens is a winner. Sharp, easy to use and not terribly expensive. I am not a big pixel peeper. I got this over the 16-35 as that 1mm at the wide end makes a big difference.

I have this lens, although I only have the first generation A99. Its a great lens and I love it.

i have the lens but have only used it adapted on a7rii
Fantastic build and IQ, and yes its large and heavy.

Filter wise, Haida make an adapter for their 150mm filter series, I used it to good effect on a recent trip, very happy with it

Just received my A99II and Tamron 15-30 combo. Leaving for a 4 days trip to Timmons, Ontario. Hope to get some interesting shots.

I never have to worry about having more lenses than my wife has shoes. There aren't that many lenses available for A Mount new and used. :-)

I took some shots with my Tamron and MC-11 for my A7Rii yesterday so I can post a few later for you to evaluate. I sold my Zeiss 16-35mm F4 for E mount after getting the Tamron.

Figured i'd post some examples, really love the lens, quite versatile

That looks like the new 2-8mm super duper ultra wide angle FF by Zeiss, capable of capturing events behind the camera. $9500, and only 8 lbs.
