Agree on getting the FZ200.Sometimes you can find them used with little use. You might like an FZ200 with the constant F2.8 lens too! Although its a little bigger than the FZ150 its no FZ300.i miss this camera so much. I wish somewhere there was a new one at a value price.

I know...It's nice having the constant aperture. When you zoom in on something the iso doesn't ramp up like it does with the slower lens on the FZ150 at 600mm.Agree on getting the FZ200.Sometimes you can find them used with little use. Had the FZ150 upgraded to the FZ200 for the constant f/2.8 and the much better EVF.
Originally bought the FZ150 for its size and zoom range to take pics of my girls school sports actives. Generally on cloudy/ overcast days to maintain fast enough shutter speed at times had to use 800+ ISO with the f/5.2 at tele; whereas with f/2.8 could use 200+ ISO. The ISO difference makes for noticeable less image noise for the small 1/2.3" sensor.
FZ200 not that much larger/ heavier than the FZ150; see DPR FZ150 & FZ200 side-by-side comparison HERE; i.e.:
FZ150: 124x82x92 mm (4.88 x 3.23 x 3.62″) • 528 g (1.16 lb / 18.62 oz)
FZ200: 125x87x110 mm (4.92 x 3.43 x 4.33″) • 588 g (1.30 lb / 20.74 oz)
After using the FZ200 I liked the FZ200's controls/ layout better than the FZ150; i.e., On/ Off Switch, Fn1 button on top, and the flash open on top/ left of built-in flash.
Cheers,
Jon
The FZ80 is the same size if not bigger than the FZ300, isn't it? The lens if it's the one used in the FZ70 is nowhere near as sharp as the FZ300 lens. The new fz80 ships in march and I think is right up your alley in terms of size and ergonomics. Its a mini fz300 with a 20MP sensor and a 1200mm max zoom.
FZ80 not a "mini FZ300".The new fz80 ships in march and I think is right up your alley in terms of size and ergonomics. Its a mini fz300 with a 20MP sensor and a 1200mm max zoom.
I've been thinking about the FZ80...and my brief time with the FZ70.FZ80 not a "mini FZ300".The new fz80 ships in march and I think is right up your alley in terms of size and ergonomics. Its a mini fz300 with a 20MP sensor and a 1200mm max zoom.
FZ200/ FZ300 both have better build quality, fully articulating LCD, better EVF, etc., etc. The FZ80, like the FZ70 is a budget/ entry level superzoom camera; compared to FZ300, Nikon P900, etc.
Yes the FZ80 has "some" of the FZ300 features (i.e., 4K Video/ Photo, DFD Focus, Touch enabled LCD, etc), but FZ80 using the same non-Leica lens as the FZ70, which IQ was not that good; see the
Imaging-Resource.com's "Panasonic FZ80 Review: First Shots - Specifications" as to their FZ80 comments and sample images.
Can see how well the FZ70 compares with other superzooms of its genre at:

I love KEH and have purchased several camera bodies and expensive lenses from them.I've used KEH for years. Very reputable. I have no affiliation with them.

Beautiful images you got with your FZ70! Regarding early camera reviews, many sites set to Auto and proclaim it's great, ok, poor, whatever. I'm betting you or a few others here on the Panny forum can make the new FZ80 shine with some high quality images with the correct/best settings. I do know that my FZ200 (and others) benefited from some fine tuning.I've been thinking about the FZ80...and my brief time with the FZ70.FZ80 not a "mini FZ300".The new fz80 ships in march and I think is right up your alley in terms of size and ergonomics. It is a step down from the FZ200/300 series, as well as that rare 'non Leica' branded lens on a Panasonic fixed lens camera.
But.....When I look back at some of my photo's (shot jpeg) I wonder if the poor fps burst (with limited in- camera buffer and sometimes sluggish AF along with poor EVF) were the main reasons I sold it.
Case in point:
Full telephoto ISO 400
I'm curious to see if the FZ80 (with better EVF, DFD AF, hopefully bigger internal buffer and 4K photo) can give me at least same I.Q. as my P610.
That camera has a very sharp lens at the telephoto end, amazing VR, great ergonomics and small and light.....but worse burst shooting, worse EVF, slowish AF and if you take more than 20 to 30 fps bursts in medium burst mode, the camera will make you wait, as it processes each image...sometimes waiting for a few minutes!!
So I might just try out this FZ80....just might...
Meanwhile I keep telling myself time to put down the camerra and pick up the guitar
