Am I seeing things here? or is the IF spec a typo??

IF refers to internal focusing, not internal zooming.

I have the Sig 24-105 F4 at 31.2 oz. I would guess this will be heavier.

Except for the wide angle, all are using electronic diaphragms. No info on release dates or pricing yet.

I am quite intrigue by the new 24-70 DG OS, But there seems to be a discrepancy between the description above: ART Lens, DG, HSM, IF (???), OS

These pictures prove otherwise:

Weight isn't posted yet but it does say front element is 82mm and 3.5 x 4.2 in with 19 elements in 14 groups. That is a lot of glass. The Nikon is longer but narrower with a 77mm front element and weighs two pounds with 15 elements in 11 groups.

Ah....I see that it does extend. I'm mixing up changing length zooming vs during focusing. Thanks for the clarification, guys. (and I don't even drink!)
Maybe you should. :-D
Quite helpful when attempting to rationalize new expensive lenses...
Really? You're upset by a bit of lighthearted banter? Wow.
I expect more from an Aussie ;)

DRINKING is quite helpful when attempting to rationalize new expensive lenses...which I was doing as I wrote that (A reposado tequila over ice with fresh lime juice) and was trying to rationalize both the Sigma 135 and Sony 100STF.

I've been very looking to replace my older Sigma 28-70 f2.8, I was leaning towards getting the Tamron, because I did not want to spend the money on the Nikon, but if this new Sigma is as good as the Tamron (for less) I might pick it up. Hoping its out before August.
