With a $200 price drop, I finally bought the Pentax 15-30mm. I'm looking forward to exploring its capabilities on the K-3 II in the near-term. I should have it tomorrow.

This reminds me I need to look for lenses that have had prices lowered toward the end of the year. I think I saw the 28-105 lowered -100$ so what else is out there? This is probably not a permanent drop but rather a year end sale.

You are likely correct, as many prices have been reduced.

Why not the Sigma 18-35?

Maybe also it has to do with stores ordering their shipments of fine Pentax wide and ultra-wide DFA primes?

(pinch me someone, i must be dreaming!)

As usual all the big discounts and price drops for Pentax, happen in the U.S.! Here in Europe, being a Pentaxian is, still, a very expensive hobby! The 15-30 costs 1700 euros!! How much is that in American Dollars?

"Damn your eyes" Brian. I said I'd lay off the lens buying after picking up the K-1. OK, but this must be the end of it. Please forward any negative reviews of the DFA 24-70mm...

Lets see, take away the typical VAT. So 1700 euro X 0,8 = 1360. Then convert to dollars/US (1360 X 1.05 = 1428$) Looks like it is about spot on the old price I saw at B&H. same = same.

Haha, so did you order the 15-30 yet, Phil? I like the output so far.

Yes. As long as Pentax was charging well more than the going rate for the Tamron-badged version I had a justification for soldiering on with the DA 12-24mm within the 18-24mm range, plus my FA* 24mm F2.

EHDesigns, that will be an excellent addition to your already jam packed lens collection.

...a bad picture is like a missed putt, it's never your fault.

Thanks, Tom. I can see why you like my avatar -- :). I shot that image with a Nikon point-and-shoot back in 2006. Your yellow calla lily is beautiful!

Cheers, Brian

I'm not surprised the price is dropping. It was way more expensive that the Tamron.
