My first Fuji, and second digital ILC was the X-A1, which is the exact twin to the X-M1 except for the Bayer rather than the X-Trans sensor. It was my second digital ILC and I bought it because of the little advertised feature that allowed me to lock all of the buttons on the rear. It was a knee jerk reaction to my first digital ILC, a Panasonic GX7, because I was constantly accidentally pressing rear buttons and moving the rear command dial. At first I thought it was me and my lack of experience with digital cameras but, I later found out that a lot of people had the same problems with the GX7.
Except for the lack of a viewfinder, the X-A/X-M series are nice little cameras. The plastic body is pretty heavy duty and well made and coming from the GX7, I didn't miss having a mode dial instead of the traditional Fuji shutter speed dial. For me, the lack of a viewfinder became a deal breaker because I had to use my reading glasses to see the LCD clearly. After a while reading glasses on, reading glasses off gets old. There were also times when the X-A1 was difficult to use in bright sunlight because the LCD would be washed out. I wound up trading in the X-A1 for an X-E1.
Sometimes I look at my X100T and think about how fantastic it would be if Fuji made a version with the XF lens mount instead of the fixed 23mm lens; especially with the new f2.0 lenses available.
