Yes, rare things happen to me from time to time. One such instance was when my daughter actually asked me to take some photos of her (she usually turns away or puts her hands in front of her face when she sees I am about to take a photo of her... ).

Anyway I shot wireless with a Yungnuo 560 firing through an umbrella on the right hand side, sunset was on the left.

The high rise in the background are the apartments at Surfers Paradise on Queensland Gold Coast.

There is somethings about how this camera captures an image that my m43 cameras just can't achieve (and its not just the resolution)

It's pretty interesting what it can be used for. And, I like your vision here.

That is pretty damn impressive, that camera just keeps calling out to me.......buy me....buy me...............one day in the future maybe, if I'm lucky

Cheers

An excellent image!

Totally off-topic but, in 1965, the good citizens of Surfers Paradise sent the then last flying Lancaster bomber to England. I was stationed at RAF Muharraq when it staged through there:

Not my photo.
Not my photo.

Back then, visiting aircraft got logos stuck on them by servicing crews and, arrowed, you will see our VASS** Cat in tasty red Da-Glo. Not quite so visible is the small hole appropriately positioned on the animal . . ;-)

Here's the story:

Some 8 years later, the machine appeared parked at the gates of RAF Scampton, near where I was living in Lincoln, England.

Nice. A fine example of how one uses an UWA for full body portraiture.

All these clueless close-minded shooters that say they will not shoot "portraiture" any wider than 35-50mm equiv should see this...

What did you use to fire the flash? I have the YN-560 TX radio transmitter, but had to get a cheap hot shoe extender to have it fit on my DP0Q.

Also: consider getting the Nik EFX plug-in editor package, since it's free now. Color EFX has a Polarization filter that works very well on UWA sky-filled scenes....

Again, nicely done :)

I could also direct them to this thread I started earlier this year, about using the dp0 for portraiture.

In fact, the OP is invited (and other reminded) to add images to the above thread, keep it alive, and discuss techniques.

cheers

I did look at this image for some time. Not only because of the lovely lady.

The reason was that I could not decide. What is it?

It has a nearly surrealistic feeling. Like some extremely long and thin legged elephants would stand just outside the right edge (those she are looking at).

Or, it has a kind of Bollywood look.

Or, it is just a nice portrait of a friend in an unusual way. One can wonder - what is she doing at that simple beach dressed up so fine?

Images that pose questions are interesting.

It's his daughter, Roland. So he would know the the dress. Seems like she may have asked to model, according to the OP.

There's a bit of the good old '3D' effect, aided by a slight halo around the figure. No EXIF so we don't know much more . .

The cloud background spanning outward from the head and shoulders is certainly Bollywood-esque.

Or some Chinese patriotic pictures!

Anyhow, it is a fine picture.

The only thing that disturbs me a bit is the beach. It is a bit off IMHO. With a better matching beach, it would have stepped up from "a very fine picture" to the next level IMHO.

Beautiful picture.

Just for my own interest, is the camera pointing north?

That is really a very special shot. Your daughter should be very happy with it.

Reminds me of my wedding shooting days.

That's a mighty fine shot and I can imagine you must be very very proud of the shot you took and the beautiful person your daughter is.

I recognize the hardheaded attitude my daughters have when I want to photograph them. The oldest is willing more and more to pose - who knows!
