Anybody know if Zeiss is supposed to announce any E-mount lenses at Photokina other than the new Loxia 85? Thanks.

I strongly suspect they would have announced it at the same time, if there was anything else coming out in the very near future.

While makes sense, I think we can have a surprise! Zeiss has been very active lately (milvus, batis, loxia) and loxia has, to some extent, appeal to videographers (manual focus, same filter size across the range, declickable aperture).

So makes sense theyannounced it inbetween the IBC and photokina.

I strongly belive there's one batis coming before the end of the year. A 135 IMO.

There was a rumor that Zeiss would have 5 Loxia and 5 Batis lenses by the end of the year. Photokina would be a great time to announce such offerings. Fingers crossed for something wider than the Batis 18 or Loxia 21. ;-)

I have the strong feeling, that we will see something in April next year. All other Batis lenses were released in April...

That makes sense. I suspect we will see the cumbersome Macro Batis 60/2.8 in the next days.

I assume the Tele Batis and potential 5th Loxia would cannibalize the sales of the Loxia 85, so those announcements will be pushed until spring. April makes sense.

Hope you're right - I still need a 14-15mm prime - but I believe that after the "Milvus" and "Loxia" announcements it's finished for "Photokina Zeiss 2016 News"... :)

Hope I'm wrong though, it's their 200 years birthday, so one never knows! ;)

All the best,
Pedro

i'd love a 35mm f2 but probably wont happen since theres so many 35mm and the affordable 28mm already

i would suspect there will be a 15mm loxia, that's 5 loxia.

For the two unannounced Batis, I doubt if there would be a 135mm, it will not be F2 or faster due to the size and weight.

I also believed this to be expectable, but after their 85m duplication in both Loxia and Batis lines, I don't know anymore! :D

Quite honestly I think «135 F2.8» is more than enough/reasonable for "speed/DOF" and would integrate more easily in the A7x line portability/compactness goal...

But again, as it seems that both lines may have equal FLs offers, maybe they go 35mm or 50mm?! :D

All the best,
Pedro

How about a Batis 45mm f2, a la the old Contact Zeiss G 45/2?

I would preorder on Day 1, would pretty much complete my kit.

With you 100%, either a 40mm or 45mm would be my ideal length though I would prefer a 35mm over 50mm if they were to go for a more traditional length. Other than the very expensive/front heavy Sony Zeiss 35mm 1.4, I think at the moment there's a bit of a gap for a slightly less expensive and may be lighter fast normal lens. Until they produce such a lens, I will have to keep to my manual 35 1.4 C/Y contax zeiss or minolta rokkor-m 40mm f2 which are stellar lenses except that I miss a lot of shots with my fast moving son!

I also think 135 f2.8 or a light wight 100mm f2.8 with 1:2 reproduction ratio to keep the size down. Personally I will keep the CZ 135za for now and waiting for the 135GM, if the batis is not faster than F2.

I have the Zuiko 75mm f/1.8 (150mm equiv) on my MFT system and it's probably my favorite lens because it is an excellent length for candid portraits. I'd love to see the equivalent in full frame.

Sorry, you can't have a 135mm f/2.8 to Loxia standards in the Loxia diameter. A 3.2, maybe, just barely, but not a 2.8.

I'm guessing you can't have a 100mm f2.8 with 1:2 reproduction ratio either, for the same reason---Loxia standards and Loxia diameter preclude it.

Personally, I was hoping to see Batis 135mm f2.4, not loxia 85 f2.4. It shouldn't be that big as f2 or f1.8, leaving some space for GM 135mm f1.8.
