IBIS now available with Sony APS-C mirrorless

Fuji appears to favour image quality over tech. I'm glad that my sensor is not moving around.
But it does. Every time you switch on and/or turn of your camera and it does a sensor clean....though probably only on one or two axes instead of 5.
How many stops do you figure those vibrations are good for? Have you been able to check to see how they affect IQ?

Hoorah! Sony now has an excellent camera with IBIS, but without a supporting lens lineup. The people at Sony are truly genius'!

Please show me the complete Sony APS-C lens lineup. I'll we waiting....

Your wait is over.......

At this point I"m sure you're going to enlighten us with your definition of "complete", your definition of aps-c lenses, your definition of what makes a good lens..... for less expensive lenses you'll talk about IQ and for lenses with superior IQ to Fuji lenses you'll talk about size or price.... Don't bother, I've heard it all before and we can just agree to disagree. In the meantime Sony and Zeiss and others keep releasing more good lenses for the E mount system. Your argument was certainly valid in 2014 but you can only use it for so long without losing credibility and you would've been better served to stop about a year and half ago.

I own the Sony A7RII , the Sony A6300, a bunch of Sony glass and just acquired a Fuji X-T2.

Why on earth did I buy the Fuji if I already had two top of the line cameras? Sony is all about tech but there's no life to them. Fantastic image capturing devices but average cameras. I just hate the button layouts and rear dials.

I took a gamble on the X-T2, I had owned an X100T previously so I knew a little about how they feel. I just missed that feeling. I much prefer the X-T2 to my Sony cameras. I just enjoy using it more. I recently picked up the Fuji 23mm f2 and I just love it.
I also own the Sony Zeiss 24mm f1.8 (a near $1000 35mm APSC equiv prime) and I don't think it can touch the Fuji 23mm in terms of performance and rendering. The 24mm is the most over priced lens i've ever bought (lucky I only paid $550 for it). Its a nice lens, but worth only $500 tops.

I've come to realize, all the high tech in the world does not make a great camera. The enjoyment of shooting is important to me, it may not be as much to you though.

Bottom line , from a serious Sony owner .. I feel the X-T2 is in another class. The lens line up, the body, handling and "feel" . Both are fantastic cameras but I feel they will attract different users.
All cameras out today are excellent. It should really just be what connects with you the most.

I actually blogged about this recently regarding the A7RII

Fuji appears to favour image quality over tech. I'm glad that my sensor is not moving around. Seems like something that could fail and/or get misaligned. But if you need IBIS, then it's nice you have the option. To each his own...

I also feel the same way sold my a7r2 For me the Fuji is far more enjoyable to shoot with. no honeymoon phase. Sony is a computer with great tech but the Fuji makes shooting a joy again.

Please update this thread when you are done with your honeymoon stage on the XT2. Thank you

Too legit to quit.
That's a fair call. I'll write about it when the time comes. All im saying is that I bought a Fuji because I missed a particular feeling with my camera. And im happy that the X-T2 delivered.

I won't be selling my Sony A7RII though. It's an unbeatable landscape camera, but I think the X-T2 will be my goto every day camera.

What a ridiculous statement and as usual it is always made with zero information to back it up.
He is right though. At leat with the APSC lineup. Nobody wants to buy massive FE lenses for APSC cameras. Pointless.

Hi,

I had hoped it with Fuji and Sony did it with the new Sony A6500 !!. Competition is good anyway, the winners are the users. I klike good lenses, but Sony can have adapted lenses (a bit longer but cheaper) or FF native lenses

Fuji pretended that they could not include it with the current mount because of the image circle...I think anyway that it is going to be a must for mirrorless.

So my guess is that suddenly, they will find a solution for IBIS... Anyway, my opinion is that they can not ignore it, maybe not in the very short term but in the mid term.

They announce 5 stops stabilisation, in practive I expect something like 3 steps which is huge. Not always usefull but when it is, it can make a huge difference.

Just my opinion

Chris
Nobody needs ibis, its a waste of time, go away, do Nikon and Canon have it, do they care? Do Pentax have it, do people actually buy their cameras, a few few yes, is there a pattern. If you need stabilisation use a monopod or a tripod, for video a gimbal or other steadying devices eg steadicam etc. Ibis is a gimmick and ironically the best thing that's come out of it are the hr sub-sampling but guess what lol, you need a tripod for it, qed!

at least until Fuji has it.
Well Fuji decided no, therefore like Can-ikon, it is not required!
Are you for real? IBIS was not around when canon and nikon designed their DSLR's... but they are not 'needed' in your misguided opinion. No they are non needed, just like I didnt need to put the best tyres on my car or buy an expensive hifi.... but I did, as I wanted to. Technology (IBIS) in this case has advanced cameras. Deal with it, stop being pathetically defensive, its not a cool look.

Haha man you are amazing. So instead of using this new technology you should carry a tripod or monopod or a gimbal... Wow. What a great, light, unobtrusive solution. Hats off to you.

I could do without IBIS, I would happily buy a fuji without it, but people like you who make these dumb statements and arguments without absolutely no thought behind them, are laughable. Why would you not want it? Give us a reason that actually has some weight behind it.
