Hi,

I had hoped it with Fuji and Sony did it with the new Sony A6500 !!. Competition is good anyway, the winners are the users. I klike good lenses, but Sony can have adapted lenses (a bit longer but cheaper) or FF native lenses

Fuji pretended that they could not include it with the current mount because of the image circle...I think anyway that it is going to be a must for mirrorless.

So my guess is that suddenly, they will find a solution for IBIS... Anyway, my opinion is that they can not ignore it, maybe not in the very short term but in the mid term.

They announce 5 stops stabilisation, in practive I expect something like 3 steps which is huge. Not always usefull but when it is, it can make a huge difference.

Just my opinion

Chris

Yes, for the first time we can have IBIS i an mirrorless APS-C camera. I don't think I will upgrade my X-T1 to the new X-T2;)

This is a feature I wish the Fujifilm X-T2 had.

For still, I can do without, but for video, I really miss such feature.

Fuji appears to favour image quality over tech. I'm glad that my sensor is not moving around. Seems like something that could fail and/or get misaligned. But if you need IBIS, then it's nice you have the option. To each his own...

A pretty impressive addition to an otherwise crummy body design. Definitely not enough to draw me back to the Sony APS-C world.

Why do you need to be unpleasant ?

Do you prefer a blurry picture or a sharp picture with the cost of some vignetting ? That is the reason why I used the term "pretend", no cheating.

We will see.. My main point its that Fuji can not ignore that IBIS is going to lack and that they will have to find a solution, whatever the solution is.

Also: When I shot with the Sony NEX-6 and a6000, almost all of my lenses had OIS (primes and zooms). The only lens that I owned that didn't was the 20mm pancake. The DPR article on the a6500 says that if a lens with OIS is present then the in-lens OIS takes over instead of IBIS.

So if you use native Sony APS-C lenses, the addition of IBIS is no big deal. If you already owned an a6300 and some native APS-C lenses there would be few reasons to upgrade. It might only make sense if you shoot with a lot of adapted glass or use the Sony FF FE lenses (which is not ideal on an APS-C body for a number of reasons).

Even when I was in the Sony ecosystem I don't think would have been running out to pick this one up.

They have. It's called OIS. Same as used by Canon and Nikon.

Once people really understands what "Competition" means and causes, they will never repeat the brainwashed "Competition is good" that is started from greedy people to justify all their actions for public.

Also a real pain to add an effective heat sink.

Except that now there is a touchscreen, which is a pretty big deal. the X-A3 is the only Fuji to offer that.

They have a solution...

I don't understand why this is so important given the extra weight and cost associated with the IBIS feature. Our cameras are now capable of shooting at 12,800 and delivering decent results. We have a wide range of primes at f/2 or better. And we have stabilized zooms for when the need arises.

I'd like my camera to have every feature on earth, but I'm quite happy with what I've got

Oh, I can't use the term "pretend", aren't you a bit susceptible ?

Yes, Canon and Nikon don't have IBIS neither. Which means that you will be able to use Canon and Nikon non OIS lenses (many primes) and have IBIS !!!

Sure, depending on your tastes it could be a big deal, for me not so much. I can instantly see how helpful it would be if you do a lot of composition using the back LCD screen. I don't though. I shoot almost exclusively through the EVF.

I realize that the a6500 touch screen acts like a touch pad when you are using the EVF, but even then, that doesn't sound like the most ergonomic way to select a focus point while holding the camera against your face. I would much rather have a joystick closer to my thumb that can select any focus point with a relatively small movement of my digit as opposed to trying to stretch my thumb across the entire LCD screen while keeping the camera against my eye.

I'm not opposed to touch screens as an option, but they're not selling points to me personally.

It seems like a relevant discussion, in my opinion, given the amount of space we have filled in this forum regarding whether Fuji would/could/should include IBIS in their APS-C bodies. This seems especially interesting to Fuji users since the a6500 and X-T2 are in the same ballpark for price point and appear to be competing for a similar market/target audience.
