Hi guys,

I have had my D810 for about 9 months. I just noticed today this strange streak on the focusing mirror. Is this a common issue? Tried searching around but couldn't find anything. I will send it in for them to look at but was wondering if this is common?

Thanks

Looks like a liquid has run down the mirror. Some liquid dropped onto it? If it was me I would get it checked and cleaned by Nikon, mirror is delicate.

Best get it checked out, could be some sort of oil leak from the shutter mechanism or unit, but hard to to tell.

Thanks mrgs1, will do.

Having documented it as you have, I would wipe it off with a clean Q-Tip and good lens cleaner if needed. If it happened again, then I'd take it to service.

Thanks for all your input!

The "stain" appears in a different location on the mirror. especially if

you compare it's position in the first picture to it's location in the third picture.

a stain can't move.

Seems like the stain might be on the groundglass screen, and you're seeing it's reflection in the mirror??????????.........Jeff Barlowe

Well the position of my phone moved to try to catch different shots (to avoid lamp reflection), thus it appears the stain moves. But when looking at the actual mirror, it is clear the stain is on the mirror. Not a reflection or anything else.

That will scratch the mirror. Don't even think about bringing anything into contact with the mirror that is not air.

Post an update when it's been resolved.
