FZ200 - Lensmate "Fence" round Navigator, anyone got it?

I made one. Took a standard O ring and SANDED it flat one side. Glued it on body using contact cement.
Well done, sanding an O-ring was one of my thoughts too. There might even be enough surface area for 2-sided tape to work.

Do you remember what contact cement you used? Thixofix, Evostik or Stick2, or a thinner clear glue like UHU or Bostik Clear ? I am guessing a thin clear UHU-type, applied to both sides and allowed to dry for 15 minutes before assembly.

Or maybe a model maker's cement ?

Quite tricky, with something so small.

contact cement - was made by Super Glue ( not super glue but their contact type). I tested is on bottom of body to be sure the glue was the type that would NOT melt the plastic. But I have a feeling that the FZ body plastic is of the type that is not harmed by usual solvents like acetone. Anyway, the ring would pull off clean today, but, after a year it is still stuck down good. I would hesitate using a model makers cement, they tend to dry brittle and might chip off. The contact remains flexible. Yes apply contact and wait 15 mins.

O rings come in different thicknesses. If you guess wrong, pop it off and try again. O rings are cheap $$$, most expensive will be the "sand" paper if you do not have it on hand. 80 grit is good. Clean body good to be sure no dirt/grease on it. I used Windex and a cotton tip q-stick.

2-sided tape is what LensMate uses for attaching a lot of its products; i.e., attaching their filter adapters to various P&S camera lenses. (HERE)

And yes Susan does reply to emails promptly. A week ago I sent an email to let them know that on their "Camera Models" (HERE) page for the ZS100 photo they had the ZS60 instead of the ZS100. Two days later received a "Thank You" for letting them know.

Don't know if any help for you (UK) but noticed LensMate products on Amazon.com.

Cheers,
Jon

An "0" ring epoxied around the 4 way, bottom 1/4 cut out for access works fine. And costs next to nothing.

I bought the LensMate and it helps, but there's still a bit of a tendency to hit the button if you aren't careful. It's one of those things that you have to remind yourself not to do, and that's always a pain. I'd say it's worth buying if you're having the problem a great deal. I found it quite frustrating to be changing my setting without knowing it. It's a perfect fit and comes with its own adhesive, so you don't have to be trying to attach something with some type of glue that may slowly eat through the rubber and plastic on the camera body. That can happen. Plus, it lies flat whereas an o-ring doesn't really have a flat side.

Thanks Tom, very helpful.

Thanks Jon, I don't see this particular product on Amazon.com and it is not on Ebay UK or Amazon UK. It seems that the UK people who have fitted it bought it from Lensmate USA.
