I find the app, as it is, very helpful, but it has annoying things like when it comes to connecting, and the interface is a bit... hmm. Oldish?

The way I see it, a new app should be built from the ground and up, have connections by wifi/bluetooth and/or nfc. Don't disconnect when certain operations are done.

Bulb mode would be good.

And how about letting us do in camera raw corrections via the app, maybe with extended functionality?

Make custom settings for the connected camera via the app, and transfer old settings from one camera to another.

What else should or could a new app feature? Bring on your ideas!

It should make better use of the full screen of a tablet

Wouldn't the camera need to have Bluetooth and/or NFC? AFAIK no Fuji cameras have the hardware

Yes, including a lens change

True. And bracketing

Would not interest me, but others might find this useful. Note that the current option to work on a raw in-camera gets you a jpg

My dream would be that you can make more than one set-up for a camera using the app. That could be easier than running through menus. Of course you should be able to make real custom menus (Q covers mostly jpg settings)

As it is the app takes over full control of the camera. That is OK. But if the camera is [e.g.] set for aperture priority, you now have to disconnect to change to manual. That is not good. The app should let you change all settings whatever the mode the camera was in when connecting (and revert to its previous state on disconnecting)

Whatever improvements would be beneficial the last thing we need is another new Fuji mobile app.

Hi,

Sorry to be a Jonah, but I don't want a phone-dependent device at all. I'd prefer to have a small dedicated radio remote release like some other brands (eg Pentax).

Cheers, Rod

Bluetooth low power is probably the best for remote control of the camera. Unfortunately, the Fuji firmware doesn't support such a device. As seen with the new Nikon D500, the bluetooth system has to be married to the camera. With Fujii's issues with battery life, I wouldn't go with any other solution other than bluetooth low power. Now, someone has to make the device, maybe the USB connector might have a path. If Fuji substituted bluetooth for wi-fi, you should see an improvement in battery life on those cameras with wi-fi. I would like the see the minimum functionality of remote control and gps using a smart phone.

You already have that with the RC-99.

A camera is not a good platform to do image editing. The LCD is optimized for viewing in the daylight so I wouldn't feel great about making color decisions on the camera. I've found that the LCD is good for judging composition and with the Fuji, the live histogram allows you to make exposure decisions on the camera.

Are you saying that Fuji doesn't allow you to save your settings to a computer or a file? Transfer settings would only be relevant if the two cameras were the same model with the same firmware.

And Nikon . I would rather have a phone dependent app so that I could pull off the gps information from the phone and save it on the image. I would also like the camera to update it's date and time by using the phone app. If Fuji would swap out the wi-fi that some cameras have with bluetooth low power, you might get more battery life.

It's a turd for sure.

How hard is it to put together a top notch developer team to build modern functioning apps with usable interfaces.

My guess is they are using a few guys that either aren't that good or aren't given the resources they need.

I vote for the ability to set a time for a long exposure beyond 30s. Seems like a no brainer.

Better yet. Why don't they just allow this through the camera.

It's a PITA teathering a wired shutter release to a modern camera built on software that also includes wifi.
