Hi folks,

If anyone has an interest, I see that the Rokinon Tilt-Shift 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Lens for Pentax has dropped about US $60 to now US $699 at Amazon.com and BHPhotovideo.com. Note: This is a FF lens. A couple of years ago this lens sold for US $1299.

Edit: Here is an idea I had about using this lens.

Cheers.

24mm is the perfect perspective control focal length for architecture on FF.

That's a good find, Ron. I didn't realize that lens had dropped anywhere near that much. That's going to be a great lens on the K1.

That is good to know. Thanks.

I bought the Samyang tilt/shift, which I believe is the same lens, and it isn't very useful on APS-C. My conclusion was that it needed FF, and you've confirmed that. I look forward to using it on the K-1.

Yes that is the same lens.

It will be at least a year or more before I decide to buy the K-1 or not. So, I am going to give mine a try on my Sony NEX-7 + Lens Turbo II (a FF adapter). Just a straight thru test shot seemed to indicate that it might work OK. However, I don't know about tilting and shifting yet.

BTW Barry, I tested my Sony NEX-7 + Lens Turbo II with the new Pentax 1.4X HD AW attached to a Sigma 400mm f/5.6 Tele-macro. I did get a very slight amount of vignetting. Then I took off the Pentax 1.4X and tried a Sigma 1.4X APO EX DG and I got no vignetting. I just thought you might have an interest in this.

you mean non-pentax lenses for K1?

;)

The 24/T-S is an obvious choice. But I'm not convinced about Samyang coatings, and that's very important on such a wide lens... i might wait and get the Pentax UW prime when it comes out next year...

The Samyang 24/1.4 is also interesting, especially if you like aperture coupling (not having it is a pain) and are interested in night-time photography, and star trails etc. It's quite excellent for the night sky, based on some reviews i read.

The feeling I'm getting is that the Pentax HD 1.4x Converter is nearly but not quite universally FF-capable - it works on FF well with some lenses, and not so well with others. But I doubt if it is ever purely an APS-C Converter with any decent lens.

So I will be testing it with all my lenses, and publishing my conclusions here; as will other people, no doubt!

I have almost all Pentax K/KA from 15 mm to 200mm.

I hope that a handful will be worthy of their reputation with the K1: K 28mm f/3.5; KA 50mm f/2.8 Macro; KA 50mm f/1.4; KA 85mm; K100 f/4 Macro; K105mm f/2.8

K 50mm f/1.2 will certainly be useful in some contexts, as K 85mm f/1.8.

Not very confident for KA 15mm and KA 20mm.

I question the quality of K 28mm shift (no tilt) which is already rather weak with the K-01.

And I have no fast 35mm...
