Hello guys,

Here is one shot I took last Saturday night. It was shot with the combo 6D + 35 mm f/1.4 ii at a music show in poor light conditions.

For a 35 mm, the bokeh quality of that lens is quite superb. The 35mm f/2 IS is nowhere near as good wide open in that department (I think I will only keep the f/1.4 version from now on)

Cheers,

Max

That's a beautiful shot. Looks great in B&W.

I agree, the 35 f/1.4 II is an incredible lens. It's only once that you start using these really fast primes that you realize just how much more creative freedom they give you. And it's only once you've used the newest versions that you see how much of an improvement in IQ they offer.

I'm starting to want a 1.4 or 1.2. Honestly with full frame cameras I've never felt I needed more than 2.8. I have Some F/2, like the 135 F/2, 100 F/2. 24-70 2.8 ii. But I'm starting to like the 35mm shots more and more. Especially with video, I really like to blur it out with the video and a wide angle.

I'd like to go 1.2 even if it's huge.

The only 35 mm f/1.2 that I know of is the Voigtlander Nokton Aspherical 35mm f/1.2 Lens I and II (two versions)

Thanks

When are you gonna break down and get this lens, Buster?

I love this photo it works on every level. The blurred man in the foreground looking mysterious, the blurred figures in the background creating interesting shapes. The man writing focused, serious.

Foreground blurr looking good, background blurr very good.

It could be an opening sequence to a thriller.

Well done.

John

we're waiting for more ;) I'm very interested to see more samples since I have Sigma Art 35mm.

Lemme see -- I could get $500 for my 35 / 1.4A and then be $1000 in the hole after I got the 35 / 1.4L II or I could continue to enjoy my 35 / 1.4A and use that $1000 for other things. Let me think about that for a moment. ;-)

You are deferring the inevitable. You know it.
