Before you say "should have shot more to the right to see the mesas from the classic straight one view..." I was lucky to get a front-row spot that morning. Never ever ever again will I visit a National Park on a long weekend.

Appreciate any/all critiques. Brutal honesty is preferred to vacuous niceties.

I do like it. Different view certainly. But its seems a bit unbalanced to the left. Maybe crop some off the right?

It's nice to see a different angle on this shot that has been taken so many times.

I'm curious, was it packed on a January morning? I've heard it was easy to get a spot on a winter morning. I am thinking to head down next week, before the road construction starts in Arches.

Looks good, btw.

Saturday morning of MLK Day weekend. Arches was packed the day before, but I had Delicate Arch to myself from before sunrise until 9:30 AMish.

Here's that shot...

Thanks. I bet it was nice visiting Delicate Arch without having to worry about cloning out people or listening to someone yelling at someone else to get out of the shot. :-)

To be brutally honest, these are a couple of really nice shots of my favorite area. Excellent exposure, good white balance, sharp, good comp, the whole package. The Tamron working very well indeed and showing a pretty 18 point sunstar. Nice going!

Very nice. Most of the shots you see all look alike.

I like it.

Love the sunstars.

I think you're losing a bit too much sharpness shooting at f22 though. Being that wide, you might have got away with perhaps f11-14 and not run into diffraction so much. Not sure what would have happened to the sunstars though.

It would be funny if you could post a shot of the crowds all around you. When i was there, a bussload of japanese tourists all descended on the place. That was both annoying and hilarious!

I agree with Big Ga, btw. I generally won't go past f/11.

The last time I was there the crowd was so large I couldn't get near the arch. There were very colorful clouds in the east before the sun came up, and I hoped some of the visitors would think that was the main attraction. I waited behind the crowd and when the colors started to fade, a few people did in fact move, making a little room for me to squeeze in on the opposite end from your shot.

I went in the middle of the night once, and was all alone. :-D

I really like both of your posted shots, and I like the starburst resulting from a small aperture. Nice work and well worth the effort.

It is nice and interesting shot. I expect starburst is natural due to f/22 aperture. It is frameable with some post processing. I expect that the composition can looks better if the image is slightly cropped to enhanced the starburst affect. Thanks for the post.

Regards

Hmm... the artificial sunray doesn't do it for me.
Lens-induced? Camera shot it that way. I burned the highlights locally in Lightroom. Or, a matter of subjectivity. Regardless, thank you for the feedback!

I really like this shot but did you have to use a fake sunburst?
Fake as in added artificially? I chose a narrow aperture of f/22 and lined up the edge of the rising sun to create this effect. The sunburst appears nearly the same in the RAW file, too. I toned down the highlights a bit, but did not add in this effect with a filter or in post. Anyway, thank you for the feedback!

Can't think of any useful criticism - very nice image of an area I've never been to. How crowded was it?.

Solid line of a couple photographers and more than a few camera-phone tourists along the arch. Luckily no one tried to break rank and get farther forward. Less than two dozen on the Saturday of MLK Day weekend. Thanks for the feedback!
