Just received the zs60 (TZ80). First thing I noticed was that the flash is on the left side, facing the front of the camera, right where my other fingers rest when pushing the shutter button with my index finger. For a minute thought I had a defect with the flash but once I moved my finger out of the way, it works fine. Will take it outside tomorrow but so far, I'm pleased with what I have seen.

Best,

Pat

That is easily solved. Just.......................................trade it in for the ZS100/TZ100 which has a top mounted flash. :-D

I'll get one of those too!

The combination should be good.

Sorry do not follow ... looking at a image of camera while purchasing quite obvious as to the location of the flash.

Another "watch out" is due to flash's small size/ output and the lens small max apertures don't great flash results, especially zooming in on a subject across the room.

Yea, I saw it in the images but the flash is not in the way of my trigger hand in my other compacts so I had to adjust the way I hold the camera. Not a big deal but because I wasn't use to that flash in that location my fingers blocked it for the first couple of shots.

It's the same on the TZ60. Not a problem for me. In any event, I rarely use Flash.

Photos were posted a couple of days ago.

With the ZS60/TZ80 at least Pany has made a attempt to help prevent blocking flash by new front grip design with a raised section at top of front grip to keep fingers below the raised grip section.

Like I said, it's not a big deal just have to adjust the way I hold the camera. I do have some other flash behavior that is again different from my other cameras but will put in a separate post.

Post was just a FYI for older ZS40/TZ60 users who may occasionally allowed finger to obstruct flash that may have not seen/ noticed the improved front grip of the new ZS60/TZ80, which more of a tactile aid to prevent inadvertently blocking flash.
