A6300 Missing Features - Any?

Weather sealing would have been a nice-to-have (since many will likely use this as their travel camera)

One selling point they made was it is moisture resistant... I'm not sure what that means but at least its better than nothing?

Ergonomically

I like the fact they have added a AF/MF button, something that annoys me on the A6000

But :-

Still only the 1 dial plus rotating D-PAd - surely another dial would not go amiss

Still only 2 customization buttons - Need another 2

What has Sony got against touch screens anyway?

Touchscreen and weathersealing would have been nice, along with another control dial, improved EVF. I don't mind the lack of IBIS but it would have been a decided selling point for some folks.

I'm just underwhelmed.

At least they kept the 24 MP, not the ridiculous 36 MP SAR kept talking about.

Oh - it *is* dust and moisture resistant? I didn't know that. That's great news then!!

thx!

Low light AF for me is the biggest weakness of my A6000. All the new features I see on the A6300 are things I don't really care about.

If the low light AF were improved, I am sure it would have been mentioned.

Too bad then. Really unfortunate.

Am I missing something or does the press release NOT say it is a BSI sensor?

Yet many websites, dpreview included, seem to suggest that it is a BSI sensor. Which one is it?

- I would like a normal proportion screen, not 16:9

- direct access memory positions: yes!

- reliable focus (unlike "fast" focus)

- separate EV compensation wheel

- stiffer adjustment dial

- switch evf / screen

Everything seems to indicate that this camera has pretty much the same AF tech used in A7R II, or even slightly improved version of it. And it was a lot better in low light than earlier cameras even though it wasn't ever mentioned in press releases.

So it's almost certainly improved.

Let's get this thread started. I'll probably upgrade to the A6300 in due course, but it's not an immediate trigger pull for me.

I'm not entirely sure, but it appears to be missing some compelling feature sets:
  • IBIS?
  • 1080p 120fps?
  • Touch screen?
What else?
Touch screen...

I was thinking how to choose among that much focus points with buttons... And now with a6300 there are even more...

180 degree tilting, I know that is not a toy but it would be nice

IBIS would be fine...

Price? It is enough expensive to keep a distance with a6000, so it will not become cheaper I guess...

The rest is perfect like a6000 was.

Whatever, I was wondering about new camera and is it a good time to buy a6000 or wait but MODs blocked my thread... Now we have it after one day... May be they can unlock it :) Because it is not a rumor now...

-- IBIS

-- Touchscreen (including moving the focus point while looking through the EVF)

-- 2nd control dial

-- more dedicated E (vs. FE) lenses

-- 1/8000 regular shutter

-- 1/16000 electronic shutter

Does the a6300 have an electronic shutter at all? I've only read about the "silent shooting mode" which usually means e-shutter, but the latter is never mentioned.

Also, the price gap US vs. Europe is insane. 1000 USD vs. 1249 Euro (body only).

A fully articulating screen would make this camera the perfect go to camera for video hands down.

Touchscreens are rare in highend cameras. There are NO pro cameras currently on the market (Nikon and Canon's latest flagships add it but they're not available yet) that have them. Sony can either put money into a touchscreen or into physical controls - and anyone who uses the EVF will hate any skimping they do on physical controls in favor of touchscreen.

However, adding the new EA1/EA3 AF algo but not IBIS - WTF was Sony thinking, since nearly all A-mount glass is unstabilized?
