I and bunch of other photographers have come across this, which provides a good vibe when you're retouching in photoshop, lightroom or whatever.

The thread topic was music for photo editing, not Grand Theft Auto..

Do try Spotify's "Intense Studying" playlist, very intricate sonic wallpaper..

I like music with trouble built in when I work.

Study after study, performed over decades, have repeatedly shown that listening to music degrades cognitive performance. Studies show that the type of music is not relavent (easy listening vs. hard rock), but the volume is. The louder the music, the lower the cognitive performance.

However, the research shows an important distinction between listening to music at the same time as performing cognitive activity vs. listening for entertainment. People (and lab rats) who regularly listen to music often show increased cognitive function later (in silence).

This result does show a difference in the type of music. Some music has no effect or even decreases performance (loud rock). Some music increases performance. Google "Mozart Effect".

In an interesting but vaguely related example, researchers have tested the reactions of people confronted by police. When confronted by large numbers of police shouting orders in a loud voice, people are far more likely to react irrationally, in a way police usually deem as resistance. When confronted by smaller numbers of police who act calmly and issue orders in a normal voice, people are far more likely to comply peacefully.

Good Morning Lyle, I really like the synthesized music, Tangerine Dream, but must say that your sea of pizza is a definite road to big-time acid reflux :-D HAGD, Bob

kraftwerk: Who doesn't like 80s synth music. Can do without the robotica though. lol

Gandolf: Fantastic stuff; can't believe I've not heard of this guy before. Lots of TD feel with his music.

This past summer, I also discovered Shiller. The Germans do have some good musicians, no doubt. Did a lot of renders with Shiller's music playing since too. Das Glockenspiel's one of my favorites. :)

....and I am going a tad harder way. What about Rammstein?;-)
A painter I know, who's considered by some to be the best at her art in the city of St. Louis, Missouri, USA, loves Rammstein while she's painting. And Mozart.

Call me weird but I like to listen to documentaries, podcasts, comedy shows, or educational lectures when I work on photos. Something about narration or spoken word performance helps me get into the zone of doing visual work.

Yeah, I'm weird.

Not weird. I can watch video on my other screen while I'm Photoshopping. I listen to music if I'm studying or writing, or I listen to nothing at all.
