Canon eos5ds vs Canon 1Dx- please help with advice

Good point! Thanks! Im cropping time by time... and actuallt I was thinking about this point as well

You don't have to limit yourself to just one camera.

For portrait work, and stuff like ribbon presentation, maybe the 5Ds would be the right camera for you.

If you keep your existing 7D, maybe that's what you use for the more "action"-type images.

Just a thought.
Thanks for opinion!

Im not satisfied with 7D work in action- and I was reading about them as well (some problems with focusing after some using time). So this for action would like to keep- thats for sure.

Dear Canon owners,

Please help me to find out which of cameras could fit better for me- Canon eos5ds or Canon 1Dx.e

Im mostly shooting a sport activities, animals.

I cans see that 1dx has:

Higher iso

Continuous Shooting more

Low Light ISO- higher

As I understand these things are quite important if Im making action photos.

Please share your thoughts! Thank you in advance!
I think that 1Dx is the camera you're looking for. I seriously doubt that you'll find 12fps useful, but it's there. I think that more importantly is that 1DX is weather sealed and more rugged than the 5DS. If you're out in the field shooting sports or out in the bush shooting animals, dust will be kicked up all around you. You'll have to deal with inclement weather and your gear is going to get banged up. To that end, 1DX is engineered to withstand the abuse that it's bound to see in these types of environments. You don't have to baby that camera, it'll take the licking and keep on ticking.

Furthermore, its fast not just in terms of fps, but in terms of writing to card, processing the image and being geared towards the type of usage where time is of the essence.

A horse jump is pretty slow, compared to other sports activities. Catching a ball coming off a bat is much harder, as is hoof position in a horse race. Here the use of a fill flash determined only one frame would be taken.

Thanks! Horse is only one part the other one is dogs (also competition dogs- obedience, protection, agility and Frisbee)- they are very fast.

For fast dogs the 1DX is your only option. Even then you will have to get very good with the 1DX to capture in-focus shots, especially if they have black fur. I have a fast black cocker spaniel and he presents quite a challenge to me and my 1DX, even in good light. In fact, if shooting competition dogs was a part of my business I'd be waiting to see what the 1DX Mark II has to offer when it arrives.

My other subjects, dancers, motorcycle racers, gymnasts are easy to capture in comparison.

The few times I've shot dogs in fly ball competitions, I've quickly found that those creatures are an autofocus nightmare. The motion of their bodies and fur has totally confused the tracking of every 1D camera I've owned.

Thank you all for replays and advice! As of today Im 1Dx owner as well :) Cant wait to try it out :) Now just need to find the best setting for camera for sport (fast dogs, show jumping horses) shooting.
