Hello all:

i am in a qunadry here need help i have a choise to either get one of these lenses..can some point me in the right directon for good hsoots ..
1) i am on a budget
2) i know one is a (L) series

plz ppl can some one help I know there is a diff in money being spent with the 70-200
thanks eddy

the L is a knockout performer even wide open

the Non-IS 75-300 is mediocre on a good day and that's only if you get a good copy and stop it down

get the L even if it means going for a used one..

It's really pretty simple. The 70-200 will give you better optical performance and focuses faster. The 75-300 reaches out to 300mm.

If you don't need 300mm, the 70-200 is a better choice. But if you need 300mm, you're going to be disappointed with the 70-200.

I own both lenses (well, the f/2.8 version of the 70-200). I love the 70-200 dearly, but I still use the 75-300 often because I need the extra reach.

Those are the trade-offs. . .

Paul

If you need 300mm, use 1.4X TC.

Better get it before it disappears! No question it is a MUCH better lens.

struggling with the same dillema I finally bought a used 100-300 L 5.6. Not expensive, excellent optics, not too heavy (750 gramm) although a bit old-fashioned slow zoom.
