What differences do you notice from before repair to after repair?

Good to hear,

Well, to be honest it seems pretty quiet there. I thought that they would be pretty busy, as it appears that all of nikon's service goes to mississauga.

If you sent your camera out in june/july, you would be waiting longer than 2 weeks. :(

I was there yesterday to drop off my D4 to have the sensor cleaned, and it was ready today! Both times, it was pretty quiet, so I suspect that either they have gotten more staff to help out, or it's a quiet time for shooters. (which is odd, as the TIFF is in town...)

Either way, great service, and kudos to nikon canada. :) They really don't get enough credit, but everytime I've gone in for service work, they have been prompt and fast.

sent in a 1 Nikkor 10-30 non-PD to Mississauga for the recall two weeks ago and got it back this week. Great service!

I deal with NIKON CANADA in Richmond BC . . . nothing but good things to say . . . always had prompt and courteous service . . . for example . . . I have the 18-200 VRI . . . sent it in for service at the end of the 5 year warranty period . . . they cleaned it serviced it and even replaced the helicoid with the VRII helilcoid to eliminate lens zoom creep . . . not requested and no charge!!! . . . they always seem to go above and beyond . . . I have even received personal email updates from my service tech . . . fabulous servicing at NIKON CANADA RICHMOND!

Best,

Wondering if a U.S. Customer bought Canadian Nikon equipment if we could send it to Nikon Canada for service? Or maybe send U.S. Gear to Nikon Canada for faster turnaround. My concern would be boarder delys but it seems Nikon Canada does a much better job and their warranties are better with 2 years on bodies. With a favorable exchange rate and better service and warranty it might be a good idea to look North?

You can buy Canadian as an American and send it to Nikon Canada for warranty. Give Henrys a call. I think if you buy from them they'll handle the getting it to Nikon part; you'd just have to get it to them.

As TOS noted . . . you would probably be best to buy from a NIKON CANADA authorized dealer and have any warranty work serviced thru them . . . not sure if there would be any issue with a US purchaser trying to deal directly with NIKON CANADA . . . probably best to contact NIKON CANADA direct and see what they say.

I am in Canada and close to the NIKON RICHMOND service centre so I deal there in person and have had US gear serviced there . . . however . . . they have told me that if they are very busy they could refuse to service any NIKON US gear there and at the very least they charge a higher service rate for NIKON US gear than they do for NIKON CANADA gear . . . I think they charge something like CA$120/Hr for NIKON US gear and CA$80/Hr for NIKON CANADA gear . . . these numbers were from 4 or 5 years ago so prob higher now . . . but having said that they have never refused me service on US gear nor do they show what hourly rate they are charging for a repair . . . it is always a set price so you don't know what rate is being charged.

Sorry I was out of town for a few days, Really I dont see any difference, but they clean it and they also the white balance, the main thing they did is they check and adjust the autofocus is must better then before.

Good to hear about the AF. I should drop mine into Nikon Mississauga I guess, to get both updates done.

Nikon closed the Richmond, BC facility many months ago.... everything now has to go to Mississauga, at your cost.

The Richmond facility could only handle minor work, everything else they sent to TO.

My last repair took > 6 weeks in TO, parts had to be ordered from Japan, I guess they sent them by sea.... YMMV.
